Considering AT&T just installed a new capped data plan, I'm absolutely ecstatic that I'm leaving the iPhone behind. There is no debate what the power phone in the US is now, with a 2 GB cap on the iPhone.

My dad is going at 6 in the morning to pick it up for my spoiled brother.
is $40 extra a month for unlimited 4G and MiFi worth it? Added to their cheapest plan, that's $109 a month.
I'm already paying 95 bucks a month for T-Mobile's unlimited plan w/ EDGE on my unlocked 2G piece o' crap iPhone. The extra 10 dollars or so seems worth it.
...assuming, of course, that this 4G service is INDEED the step up everyone CLAIMS it is.
Is the rate a bit cheaper if I don't sign up for the hot-spot capabilities?
Price comparison:
Sprint - text + web + phone = $70 + 10 Evo 4G fee = $80 + 30 for Mifi = $110.
AT&T - Web + phone = $70 + 20 for texting = $90 + $30 tethering = $120.
So AT&T is actually $10 more expensive, and you don't get the 4G service with it.
I pay $65 a month for my iPhone with 1500 texts a month, and have no laptop and am not remotely interested in tethering.
yeah the hotspot is $30 a month.
Oh, ok. Yeah, I'm not necessarily interested in the hotspot. Simply the upgrade in the network and FINALLY being able to send pic msgs.
Stupid 2G iPhone.
...again, assuming that I don't HAFTA pay for the MiFi regardless. [nervous gulp]
nah, you don't have to. the unlimited data is $10 on top of their normal plans though.
My iPhone plan was $90 a month. How you got such a good deal, I have no idea, but most of the people I've talked to who have iPhones pay over $100 a month for them.
My family plan with 3 lines (2 iPhones) is $160 a month. I get a discount with AT&T through work, but it's about 15%. We also get a Verizon discount, but they cut off the Sprint discounts a couple years ago. I have little problem with AT&T at those prices![]()
Eh, either way, $80 a month for minutes web and texting isn't bad at all, especially when you throw 4G into the mix.
Hey guys can you get this one a one year plan?
Got to RadioShack, the guy I pre-ordered it from sees me, frowns, and says, "Got some bad news..." Apparently, the Sprint site had crashed, and had been down for some time, thus, not allowing for any new sign-ups. My PHONE was there, but nothing could be done with it. He told me I could call back later this afternoon and check on it.
[sigh]
Didjoo run into any problems, CH?
My dad and brother both got the phone today. My dad's is a phone geek, so he might give me his once he gets something better.
Eh, kind of. It took about three hours from the time I walked into the store until it activated. They said at best buy that there were 40,000 phones being activated simultaneously.
However! I'm using my phone to type this. My god, its a beast. I instantly fell in love with it. I have no words to describe how awesome it is to surf with this phone. Or send a text. Or watch YouTube. Its incredible.
Is the battery life as ty as described in the article above?
Way too early to tell, but I don't think so. Seems to be holding up well thus far.
I was definitely concerned about this, too. How long didjoo charge yours before flipping it on? I'm so nervous about preemptively ing the battery life up...
Nevermind. It never occurred to me to read the little manual that accompanied my phone.
Huh.
$75 over here for my wife... Company pays for mine, but it's on a family plan, so it's even cheaper... And AFAIK, the announced AT&T sanctioned tethering is $20, not $30. That said, unlimited data is going away (bad for when I watch my slingbox on the road, good that it saves $5 bucks) and it's not a wifi hotspot.
Sprint sucks.
End story.
