have no clue, never really thought about it
from wiki answers:
They are matchday mascots, they usually walk out with one team wearing the other team's strip to promote friendship through football. They may also wear a t shirt promoting a campaign such as ... against racism or knife crime.
Sometimes sponsors children get to go on, or have won a compe ion.
^ edit: there it is.
Matchday mascots. They wear the jerseys of the other team to show 'friendship' or fair play. They also sometimes have shirts on which say fair play or no discrimination in football.
Its a tribute to Michael Jackson
Most of the time it's disabled or underpriveliged children IIRC, through charity.
Fair play and no descrimination? Looks like the ref for this US v Slovenia game didn't get that message.
I'm surprised he never really got into football. He could've touched little kids and used the FIFA Fair Play rule....it's legal.
