England ting themselves isn't exactly anything new, i'm surprised with Spain and Italy though.
I do. Think about it. Most South American team players play in Europe. Every qualifier game they're flying a lot and only get to stay 2 days with the team.
Plus the compe ion between the teams is monumental.
Now you give them two weeks to work, and you get solid teams.
England ting themselves isn't exactly anything new, i'm surprised with Spain and Italy though.
It was a clear and legitimate win from what I'm reading... so, no big deal really.
I'm more surprised with England than Spain, honestly.
Obviously, France takes the cake. But even Germany, who is a sure bet normally, really faltered in their last game.
How is it the US team's fault they were called for a phantom foul? You make no sense. Like I said, you can have your own opinion, but something that obviously fabricated screams a bit of bias. The US is nit presently liked much in many parts of the world, including many African nations, so is it that hard to believe a bit of bias against the US politics by an African ref didn't creep in? It certainly seems so when a goal is scored and the ref blows the whistle for an infraction yet nobody knows what the he called. He still hasn't explained what he saw, and he was sent home because of the call. That tells me there was bias, but you can believe what you want and the world won't be any different because of it.
That first game was a disaster, but we still have two more yet to redeem tomorrow then later in the week. Italy, England, and France otoh have already ed up 2 games.
I don't get what Englands problem is..They destroyed everyone in qualifying, beating Croatia 4-1 and 5-1. If they can destroy Croatia they should be able to beat Algeria..Maybe it's true and England just can't perform on the big stage![]()
It's the US fault that they were in a 0-2 whole to begin with against a team everyone thought they'd beat easily. One wrongly disallowed goal doesn't excuse the US of half assing it until the second half. Now, I agree you got shafted, but pulling the conspiracy theory card is so ing lame. You got shafted by a wrong call. happens. Trying to taint the whole tournament with conspiracy theories of politically motivated calls is complete and utter bull .
This was about incompetence, nothing more.
It's weird. They just have nobody that can create. Algeria took the ball, blocked the wings and England couldn't make two passes in a row through the middle.
I still think they'll move on to the next round.
BTW, I was just reading that the referee was French?
They just can't get anything right in this World Cup...
lol surprisingly just though of this, but ivory coast are dumbasses... wouldnt' they want brasil at full strenght against portugal so that we can beat them and IC have a chance to go through?
why would they want to get our best player red carded lulz epic fail
the final score doesnt show the story of this game. ivory coast definitely lost, but brazil did not win convincingly. they had very few opportunities and had to slow the game down and waste time, they practically forced the game to stop on several occasions but didnt stop themselves when ivory coast had players down, and i think the ivory coast players realized they were getting played so they started hitting; brazil responded by magnifying everything, and finally the ivory coast player gave them their medicine back. I also agree with ElNono this is probably better for brazil than potentially losing him in the 2nd round.
andat dunga complaining about hard fouls.
This is why Capello is pissing me off, why not play Joe Cole? He's the teams best creator and he's stuck on the pine. I agree that England should move onto the next round. Just hope we don't play Germany.
God no
If they move on, we are out
Brazil won this game easily. It never seemed like Ivory Coast even had a chance to win this game.
I see England vs Germany matchup.
The US has played like crap for 3 of the 4 halves so far. They were lucky to get the point in the first game.
I disagree. An American football player went around the globe playing sports that are wildly popular in other countries, and did quite well at almost any sport he played in, including rugby.
Most of the rugby players that saw him play said he was immensely strong and extremely tough in the matches, after he got the feel of the game. He DID say that there was no way he could keep up with the amount of alcohol the rugby players drink, but that was independent of the game itself.
The docu-series is called "Dhani Tackles the Globe", and it's very entertaining. Check it out if you're interested: http://www.travelchannel.com/TV_Shows/Dhani_Jones

The most funny thing: Kaka would flop exactly like that too![]()
rugby ain't really about raw strength but about having the endurance to run a get beaten the out on every ball. VERY different from american football. It's like comparing boxing with taekwondo.
Boxing is a dogfight were strength is most of the times not the most important but viciousness, endurance, resilience, resistance to hits, ability to keep you ground(rugby going back and front) while taekwondo is about a fairly limited number of attacks in which you put max power/speed (american football "plays")
It don't matter if the player is strong as a bull if he can't play in a dogfight. Sure, some american football players would do well, but as a sport rugby is more tough and puts more stress on the body through continuous hits and running (try taking one in the belly now and one after running 5 miles .. quite the difference)
england problem is quite an easy one: they can't hold midfield for their lives. They don't have a real ball winner (like melo for brasil, yaya toure for ivc, mascherano arg, etc) that costs them ALOT if you watch the games... they try to obtain position and lose it because of the aforementioned lack, try again, try the third time .. they figure it's not working so back to the good ol' long ball.
It's even more painful tactics-wise than the lack of a creater.
man i haven't seen kaka so aggresive in my life ... probably them tribal villigers learned something about jesus that made kaka really mad.. probably told him allah > jesus or something like that![]()
Son, what game did you watch?
completely agree... the hype with us is unbearable.
It's not like the US has a monopoly on teams that are underperforming at this year's WC. Spain, Italy, France, and England have all fared equally as bad, if not worse
If you would have polled knowledgeable futbol fans on the chances of ALL FOUR of those countries to be in danger of elimination at this point in the tournament, you would have been laughed at. Yet here we are.
Sure, the U.S. could have done a lot better. But they could have been worse, too. I think many of the smaller nations are proving that they can hold their own this year.
