Tpark is right that I like Mike Batiste.
But he signed a qualifying offer with the Grizz today and the Spurs roster is getting crowded at the 2/3, so I don't know if I see him joining the Spurs.
Rasho/Willis
Tim/Malik/Horry
Bowen/Jack
Manu/Devin/Kerr
Tony/Backup Point
That's the active roster right there. I don't think Batiste would join us to sit on IR.
I think Mike just wanted a forum to showcase his skills and drive up his price and/or get an offer from another team. The Spurs definitely had a spot open since Brown doesn't need to waste any more SL time and Kidd's friend whatshisnuts probably already has a contract from NJ.
Why is Devin Brown a Backup shooting guard?Rasho/Willis
Tim/Malik/Horry
Bowen/Jack
Manu/Devin/Kerr
Tony/Backup Point
Rasho 30mpg / Rose 18mpg / Willis (Situational) = 48 Minutes
Duncan 38mpg / Rose 6mpg / Horry 4mpg = 48 Minutes
Bowen 28mpg / Jackson 14mpg / Horry 6mpg = 48 Minutes
Jackson 18mpg / Ginobili 30mpg / Brown (Situational) = 48 Minutes
Parker 35mpg / FA PG 13mpg / Ginobili Situational = 48 Minutes
Rasho - 30mpg
Duncan - 38mpg
Bowen - 28mpg
Jackson - 32mpg
Parker - 35mpg
Ginobili - 30mpg
Rose - 24mpg
FA PG - 13mpg
Horry - 10mpg
Willis/Brown Situational
That's 9 Deep, 10 for the reg season.
Because Stephen's agent is a head. Why is Devin Brown a Backup shooting guard?

If Batiste signed his qualifying offer then he's locked in Memphis for the next year and cannot be traded so we definitely won't see him on the Spurs next year. But he signed a qualifying offer with the Grizz today and the Spurs roster is getting crowded at the 2/3, so I don't know if I see him joining the Spurs.
Does anyone (Chump, base, etc.) know if Batiste is automatically unrestricted next summer? Normally that's the point of signing a Q.O., but since this will only be Batiste's second year, and the CBA says that players who enterred the league after 1998-99 and have played three or fewer seasons can be made restricted, I'm unclear on the point.
My understanding is he would be unrestricted, but I'm not 100%. For some reason, Lee Nailon was being listed as restricted by the Knicks on the NBA site when he actually took the QO from the Hornets last summer. Now he's listed as unrestricted.Does anyone (Chump, base, etc.) know if Batiste is automatically unrestricted next summer? I was just listing the players. I wasn't insinuating at Jack won't see any time at SG. If he is in a Spurs uni, then of course he will.Quote:

Grizzlies make qualifying offer to F Batiste

MEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) - The Memphis Grizzlies on Friday made a qualifying offer to forward Mike Batiste.
The move makes Batiste a restricted free agent, but the Grizzlies would have 15 days to match any offer he receives from another team.

Wait, you said Batiste signed a qualifying offer from Memphis yesterday, but that article is from a month ago. The Grizzlies had to give Batiste a QO by June 30 to make him restricted, but as long as he hasn't signed the QO he's still on the market as a restricted FA.Jun. 27, 2003
That's why I posted that Genghis.
I had read that Batiste had signed an offer yesterday on another forum. But when I researched, the only thing I found was in June. That's why I post it here, to show my initial statement (about him signing yesterday) was incorrect.
Chump, the Hornets waived Nailon before the season started and he signed with the Knicks.
Ah, okay, Kori. I was momentarily confused.![]()
Watched him put up 20 and 10 on the lakers a couple times. -TPark
Hmm. . .that would be quite a feat considering that his career high is 18 points against San Antonio.
He did go for 15 pts, 11 boards one night against LA though. . .the LA Clippers.
Yeah but didn't he take the Hornets' QO before that? I don't remember the timing.Chump, the Hornets waived Nailon before the season started and he signed with the Knicks.
You're probably right, Chump. I don't remember all of the cir stances either.
