With Sheed retiring and Perk to miss time, Shaq would have to play big minutes. He can't do that anymore. Baby would be getting the bulk of the minutes but him being so damn undersized hurts the Celts.
I would ..... 20 mins off the bench. Bynum, Shaquille, Gasol and Odom as our front court ......... the one thing he'd do is clog up the middle making it difficult to get into the paint. Three hard fouls per game.
I think he'd be better served in Bah-ston especially with Perk's injury

I'll believe Wallace retires when he submits his papers and not until.
Steve Blake is an underrated player. This will definitely help them.
Your right shame on methere's like 3 actual Cavs fans.
Blake isn't underrated at all, he's not that good..it's a good upgrade over Farmar, but he'll get a lot more hyped because of the team that signed him..
The green eyed monster is gettin' after Har.
Hopefully Blake puts up Artest-like numbers in the playoffs..
Good move for the Lakers. Decent backup PG shooter, not so much a defender though. Still, good pickup.
Maybe he won't be an immediate contributor for you guys but Devin Ebanks has all the tools to be a better rebounding Trevor Ariza. Kid has confidence issues but was a perfect fit for LA as the back up SF.
The next time a team other than LA wins a championship, the way LA has handled the last two off seasons should be lesson to said team if it wants to repeat. You should always try to make improvements over the off season if you're in win now mode, even if you win a le. I'm getting tired of watching LA coast its way out of the West every year, but when they're looking to get better more than the teams that couldn't beat them it's no surprise why they aren't challenged in the West.

Congrats to Lakers on their second 3-peat. That was the one weakness. It's still not a strength but the PG is a little stronger now.
It's not exactly an evenly balanced playing field..
The Spurs didn't get serious with the luxury tax until the Jefferson debacle, so when Duncan was well past his prime, they probably could have repeated at least once..the Suns have a notoriously cheap/dumb owner..the Rockets and Blazers can't do anything no matter how they spend, due to their star players..Denver and Utah are always looking to cut costs as well..
Dallas is pretty much the only team that can consistently compete from a spending standpoint..
It's obviously not a bad thing, if you have the tools like Dr. Buss and their ownership, obviously it's smart to use it..but I'm sure all these front offices would love having LA's ownership and revenue..
I'm sure I speak for Luva and all my Laker's Brothers when I say: thank you very much, 1000.
Blake's a good shooter, but he can't keep his man in front of him and he's not good at feeding the post. Good luck.
t, the voice of doom & gloom in Laker's Championship times.
It's not just money. Look at NY, they have had some of the highest payrolls and yet produced very little.
The Lakers have it all. Great GM's, great coaching, and great ownership.
More like the harbinger of thine own destruction...
The Lakers need to resign Brown IMO for more speed. We'll probably need him to catch faster guards or two guards but holy he needs to work on his D in this offseason. Fisher is most probably a lock. They're just trying to fix the terms of the contract so there will be fluidity for the Lakers. They have almost 2M of the MLE and the vet's min to work with. Sign a small forward (hi T-mac and Mike Miller) and/or another ring-chasing big and let's call it a day. Forget about Raja Bell. He's overrated.
BTW Crittenton did not make the Lakers SL lineup ... .
It's by no means an even playing field but the other teams handicap themselves.
Yeah, the Suns have a cheap owner, so as a fan I only have them to blame for coming up short against LA before I start whining unfair.
With almost everything going their way and without a serious test, the Spurs won a championship in 2007. The fact they returned the exact same team without making any improvements, didn't consider the fact they would be a year older, they wouldn't get that luck again, or they wouldn't have such weak compe ion, is completely on them. If the Lakers take that at ude after 2009, they run into a buzz saw in the 2010 finals and can't stop Paul Pierce. By staying so complacent with their team until LA surpassed them the Spurs put themselves in a terrible position.
Houston only has themselves to blame for building around unreliable, oft injured players.
Dallas has themselves to blame for completely misusing their spending power to overpay role players when Dallas needed more than that to compete with LA.
Portland is still a young team that probably hasn't reached its final product.
So yeah, LA has additional revenue and spending power that makes things easier, but the other West teams hurt themselves plenty.
I'm not disagreeing that the Lakers have a pretty good front office, but the Knicks have had some of the worst management in sports history since 2000, so I wouldn't go there..
I don't attribute the Lakers success entirely to their spending, I'm just saying, they obviously have an advantage there, especially vs. certain teams in the West..
Having Kobe Bryant is an advantage. Tee hee.
It is more than just a big market and a great front office that gives the Lakers an edge. It is what it says on the front of the jersey that plays a vital role. Lakers have that rich consistent tradition. They never suck for long. They traded Shaq and 3.5 years later they were back as elites. Even after Kobe/Gasol, theyll land big names somehow and be right back competing. They have always done this.
You can't say that about any other nba team. The Celts went 20 years before even being elite again. Being a Laker and wearing that jersey has so much meaning in it.
Good move by Lakers, the only big problem Blake has is his consistancy.
Dayum...
At any rate, I'm elated about this. Blake isn't the best PG, but he's the best PG at the best price this off-season. Welcome aboard Steve Blake.
