I maybe should had clarified my post, but I was at work rushing. I had no problem with him bolting to Miami. That was well within his right. I had a slight problem with the way he went about it with the press conference, but it was for "the Children" so I can even look past that. But I was responding to Wade coming to his aide saying that he didn't quit against Boston with all the crap about Boston being a defensive stopping team, blah, blah, blah, when there was clearly something up with him after game 4. I think the city of Cleveland deserves an explanation to that pitiful performance from JAMES as to what happened. All signs indicate that he had planned to bolt to Miami anyway, so you would think he would at the very least be playing his last playoff series with his hometown team like he gave a crap. Game 5 against Boston the Cavs were blown out on their home floor, with LeQuit appearing aloof and disinterested he shot 3-14. He basically made a mockery of effort and hustle . Just go back to last year when he lost to Orlando this didn’t have a care in the world this year because he knew he was leaving. He didn’t leave it all on the court he simply stopped playing.
Next he started making excuses about the elbow, even suggesting he would get surgery in the offseason. Have you even heard him mention is elbow one time this off-season? I don't know Lebron's motivations, and neither do you. Grow up and remember there's a human being behind this. It's possible to be misinterpreted, to misspeak, to make a mistake. He's about to get that crown and we hate him for it. Why? Because he chose these guys with more talent over that crowd over there? He's not the first superstar to move a team. For every Tim Duncan and Kobe Bryant I can name a Moses Malone and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. You know what Kareem's reason was? He was lonely away from a big city. The guy on the bus half the year was missing having someone to talk to about his faith. That's why he left an aging, great team for a young and talentless one in Los Angeles. He smoked pot, too. Got caught a couple of times with it.

Yet every so often we talk about the greats and Kareem's name isn't thought about with any of the scrutiny Lebron James faces. He played with Magic because the Lakers ripped off some other GM. He played with James Worthy for the same reason. But this was the players deciding and we can't give them too much power, no, that would be wrong. They can be selfish with that power, as a rule, but James isn't selfish here. He played out his contract with the Cavs and left when he was no longer a Cavalier. He never said a bad word about them, but the owner let go.

You're jumping on him for no reason. A pop-culture story because we have nothing to write about in the middle of summer. There's an oil spill in the gulf, but Lebron James went to Miami. So which one are we up in arms over? Which one affects our lives more?

Don't do this until he deserves it. He capitalized on the media storm that was already there because there was money to be made for charity and he didn't have to start a basketball camp to do it (although he has one).

Maybe he doesn't care what you, and every other media outlet filling your brain, thinks. Maybe he figures he can't get ahead of this so the best thing to do is try and go away for awhile.

I doubt it will work. Lebron is about to become a villian. Every accomplishment scoffed at, every failure leads to a flaw of character, every mis-step calculated and re-calculated until every last drop of blood is evicerated from this pop-culture tizzy. Now who's masturbating? Now who's making money for sponsors, and none of it will make its way to charity. I saw this with Michael Jackson, Tiger Woods, but they deserved it.

Boyhood fantasy and current hobby. I like to try and make a point. It took me awhile, but I got a handle on my view on all of this and finally could put it down. I just read all those quotes about masturbation and narcissistic tendencies from the media, including one of my favorites in Mitch Albom, and that set me off. First, narcissism indicates a larger problem than simply being self-involved. It's hyperbole. I don't like the pop-culture reference because there's an actual disorder and while it may not be fun to be around, those people are to be pitied because you don't wake up with no feelings one day without immense trauma.

Second, these are the same critiques we've heard before. "Oh, there goes another multi-million dollar celebrity being on TV too much." It's class-warfare. Lebron isn't responsible for that and he should be treated as an individual. He can't answer for the crimes of Michael Jackson and Paris Hilton.

Believe me, if Lebron isn't a passer, I'm not usually a fan. But that's still a human being, not an image or a namebrand. I just want some more humanity shown. It's getting very personal, these attacks. It started with the owner of the Cavs and hasn't stopped yet. People write this stuff simply because it sells and there's no consequence because he can't punch you. That's my instinct if they wrote this stuff about me. But, reacting like that would feed the new image of Lebron.
