Give him some credit, he's actually trying to post something somewhat related to the topic....of course he's still stupid as , and has serious issues with reading comprehension(lol 300$ mac), but hey, it's an improvement.
I've definately heard of Toshiba/Sony/Hp/Dell, but don;t know anything about Acer/Asus. But if you people can vouch for their quality, I'm not gonna just skip them from now on.
My sister got a sweet deal on a laptop btw, I can;t find it right now but basically she got a 650$ laptop for 500. I might just wait a week or so and see if any similar deals pop on amazon/best buy.

Asus netbooks and laptops are really good. They are the anti-Zosa's of the laptop world. In otherwords, nearly everyone likes them.
I will absolutely vouch for asus quality. Acer, I have no experience with except the stupid netbook my wife's parents bought my stepdaughter. It is slower than the computers I was building in 2000. However, the only other netbook I touched (a dell) was also glacierly slow. How soon do you need this? I'll bet you can get a good deal over labor day weekend. Also, are computers included in tax free weekend?
Nah laptops aren't included. Its one big reason to buy online, IMO. In addition to places who already have lower costs and free shipping a lot of the time you also save sales tax.

i'm more than a "male secretary", i am also a screen printer and a freelance designer but i get it, it's ok. i understand the dumb humor of the squad and their fluffers.

It's 6.4 pounds. Not very portable for the specs you're getting.
I paid less for my i5 with a 180gb bigger HDD.

Manny, did you buy yours for some type of a deal? I think i3 and 320 is plenty enough fr my purposes.

Truth be told, I love Macs. As a kid I grew up using Macs and actually learned some Dos commands. When everyone was raving about Windows 95, I just told them it made a PC like a Mac.
My iBook G4 is still alive and kicking, all 800 mhz of processor speed.When my keyboard gave out, I didn't want a wireless keyboard because I didn't want to worry about batteries. I ended up buying a Mac keyboard and I just love the feel of it. I can't explain it. Plus, it's much easier to clean between the keys.
But I've also become partial to HPs. My desktop is one and it's working great even after 4 years. I've messed with the laptops and just love them. I like portable laptops. My Mac can actually fit in my backpack so I like that. HP seems to make some fast, portable laptops.
But if you want gaming, look at the video card, processing speed and RAM. The more memory you have up front and within the card the better off you're going to be.

How bad is the graphics card here? Again, I'm really not gonna run any hardcore games. Also, pretty sure you can pick up a decent card from fry's for 50-100 bucks, no?

Pretty much any video card that doesn't list the specific amount of onboard RAM it carries (usually 512 mb or 1 gb) is going to be crap. If you see "Intel Media Accelerator" or anything of that sort... stay away. Accelerators are junk for gaming.

You typically can't upgrade video cards in laptops. Honestly, if in the future you want to run a game and you already have a monitor the best idea is to just build a desktop for that game.
it then, I'm gonna get at the very least, a decent one.
So basically anything that mentions how much memory it runs is already better than the "internal" , right?
P.S Chump mentioned dedicated graphics card, those are pretty good, right?
Dedicated and internal are two types of graphics cards.
Dedicated means that the card is separate from the motherboard, and has it's own RAM to use in games. Internal means the card is actually a part of the motherboard, and "shares" the RAM with the system.
If you're looking to play games into the future, I would recommend nothing less than the Alienware or the Asus. A 260m should set you up to play games for a couple of years down the road, at the very least.

It's decent, but I'm not sure how it will run Diablo III. The 260m will stomp all over it, but the 5470 will give you better battery life.

I also like that the Acer has an i5 processor.
They will be very similar in performance for any modern game.
