During the 2009-2010 season, I had a discussion with Jamstone about win shares. I pointed out that Gasol had more win shares than Kobe Bryant for the 2008-2009 season but had less than Kobe Bryant in the playoffs.

Here we are after the 2009-2010 season and 2010 playoffs, and here are the results.

Pau Gasol ac ulated 11.0 win shares and had a 0.22 for win shares divided by 48 minutes in the 2009-2010 season. In the playoffs, Pau Gasol got 4.3 win shares and had a 0.224 for win shares divided by 48 minutes.

Kobe Bryant ac ulated 9.4 win shares and had a 0.16 for win shares divided by 48 minutes in the 2009-2010 season. In the playoffs, Kobe Bryant got 3.6 win shares and had a 0.19 for win shares divided by 48 minutes.

My question to Spurstalk would be, how would you judge win shares if both players were on the same team?

For the record, in the 1991-1992 season, Scottie Pippen had 12.7 win shares as opposed to Horace Grant's 14.1 win shares. Is it fair to think that Scottie Pippen contributed less than Horace Grant during the season? I don't think so.

What does Spurstalk think of this?
