Yes, centers - in the old days. Today PG's are the most important
    Is this a serious response?

The best point guards of the past decade, Jason Kidd and Steve Nash, are ringless. But point guards like Avery Johnson, Derek Fisher, and Jason Williams started for le teams. Even if you consider point guards like Tony Parker, Chauncey Billups, and Rajon Rondo good players, they still weren't really premier point guards in the league when they won les.

It's still better to build a le contender with an elite center than with an elite point guard in today's NBA.

yes centers are important for success of a NBA franchise. Now they don't have to be the best center in the league, but at least decent center

    lets see:
    championship centers the decade:

    2010-Bynum
    2009-Bynum
    2008-Perkins
2007-Whoever the Spurs had at Center
    2006-Shaq
2005-Whoever the Spurs had at Center
    2004-Ben Wallace
2003-Whoever the Spurs had at Center
    2002-Shaq
    2001-Shaq
    2000-Shaq

Other than Shaq, Centers dont seem like they are needed.

not really. as seen in recent years, avery, TP, manu, pierce, kobe, wade, billups were all the guys doing the work. duncan? shaq? pfft. useless. why you ask? because avery, horry, and kobe were the ones hitting the game winners, while pau was being a soft piece of !
But what got them to the point of there even being a game winning shot to make? You're trying to say that without the presence of Timmy, TP and Manu could have won 3 championships? And without a prime Shaq in 2000,2001, 2002, Kobe would have gone on a three-peat with Robert Horry and Rick Fox?

these two years the Nets had the worst centers, never had great centers in the Kidd era, we had Collins
