You would bet? um...you don't need to bet. It would be almost impossible for their grandparents to have been slaves. (At least not in the U.S. If their grandparents were from Africa, it's entirely possible they were slaves. )

If they really wanted to the poor they could have just left them in the floodwaters to die. That way they don't have to pay to support them anymore.

This is the time where everyone should put politics aside and look to what they can do to help those who have suffered through such terrible devastation.
