Right off the bat I want to say Welcome to the good-spirited Better Robin debate. Please, only pure basketball reasoning to back up your opinion. No agendas, baby.

    Scottie Pippen/ Kobe Bryant

    Better #2 Guy?

    Defensive Rebounding = Scottie

Man to man defense (very important keeps pressure of #1 guy) = Scottie

Team defense = Scottie by a mile

For those wondering, Scottie is also a 6 time champ trumping Kobe's 5 (or 2/3/4 depending on your source)*.

Scottie has never NOT gotten past the 1st round, much less NOT gotten past the regular season

Scottie won 3 in a row for the Bulls

Scottie then went on to win 3 in a row with the Bulls AGAIN

Scottie is 6 for 6 in the Finals

Scottie was the much better teammate, Top 20-30 player ever yet had no problem deferring to MJ

Am I saying it's a landslide? No not entirely, Kobe has a great resume with his four les as a Robin**, although it may certainly seem like Scottie had the better career going off of the FACTS.

-Kobe was the better scorer (which doesn't make up for everything else Scottie is better at). Kobe averaged a couple more points than Scottie. This makes much more sense when you look a little deeper though. Something to remember is that Kobe got a lot of his points from simply being the trigger happy explosive scorer we all know, hardly ever getting his points off of the triangle offense itself. Not to mention he averaged about 10.75 more FGA than Scottie did for his career. Not chopping his legs off here, just stating a fact. :-)

-Bryant played in a more historic franchise with a winning tradition, yet Scottie was the better winner.

*00' Duncan was injured giving Kobe and the Lakers a free path to le.
02' is widely considered a sham, as it saw the Lakers receive 47 FTs in a 4th qtr of Game 7 against the Sacramento Royals.
09' Yao Ming out for Houston, Jameer Nelson for the Magic, Kevin Garnett for Boston, Manu Ginobili for the Spurs...lets just say the stars alligned themself for the Los Angeles Luckers.

**09' is not included, as it saw Kobe Bean Bryant lead a team to a le as a #1 for the first, and to this date, only time. Thanks in large part to facts previously stated but he lead the Lakers that year nonetheless. Note:00-03 were included as it saw him masterfully play Robin to Shaq's Batman. As was '10 where he was Robin to MVPau's Batman.

OP is probably right, Pippen is the better Robin since Kobe is Batman to Shaq's Superman.

    Man forget these flawed stats!

I say Kobe, he helped 2 greats, in Shaq and Pau, win les, Scottie helped only one.

When they were number 2? Has to be pippen.. You didn't see Jordan and Pippen to the point that Jordan got traded.

Shaq was the one ing really.. if Kobe ' ed' about anything, it was mostly basketball related i.e. Shaq's unprofessionalism, his work ethic etc

In the game 7 of the 2000 WCF against the Blazers, the famous "meltdown" was possible because when the Lakers rallied in the 4-th Q the Blazers were unable to hit long range jumpers, however their wing players started driving, Shaq was committing some obvious fouls. The refs swallowed the whistle.

Off course Pippen and Sabonis, key defensive players to contain Kobe and Shaq fouled out too early, and the Lakers were given a big FT advantage (btw, not very different from the game 7 of the 2010 finals).

From what I saw, that game was blatantly fixed.

The Blazers fixed themselves for failure by missing 15 straight shots in the fourth. Sorry, just saying the truth.

Just watched the last 5 minutes:
    - Kobe fouled Steve Smith while shooting. Misses, nothing's called.
    - Shaq fouls someone in the paint, it was Pippen if recall right. Nothing.
    - On the other side, Sabonis fouled out on a ticky-tack call, Shaq starts scoring many points after that.
    - Sheed shoots over Horry an fade away, Shaq with goal tending, called a block.
    - Kobe drives passing Pippen, Wallace hits the ball with a clean block, Kobe lost equilibrium/overact called a foul.
