only way jefferson gets in...if carmelo gets traded out to the east b4 ASG
Absolutely he has a shot. He's having the best offensive year of his career. Roy isn't going to the all-star game, so that's one less two guard to worry about.
I think a lot depends on the Spurs' record. If the Spurs have one of the best records in the West, and Manu's the best player on the team, he has a great chance of making the team.

I'm going to laugh when the largely inept voting public votes tracy mcgrady in again as an All Star starter, or when China's billion+ voting block votes yao ming in.
It's called Times New Roman
Manu will always be an allstar in my heart.
I think coaches know thay have been a bit unfair with Manu throught his careers and he might get in if he can carry on this kind of play untill near the ASG.
The NBA will probably up and have Allen Iverson on the ballot in both conferences too.
The All Star Game is not a great thing for a player, its just about marketing. Manu is a great athlete and he enjoys the real compe ion. It will be better for the Spurs that Manu can rest well and be ready for the playoffs.

It's gonna be Kobe and Roy for SG, even though I think Roy is highly overrated.
Unfortunately too much talent at guard, no chance. I don't see him[Duncan] starting anymore, most everyone understands he is a shadow of his past. Come all-star break, our record might warrant shoe-ins, but All-star is about show-boating and raw scoring and clearly our team is full of those type of players...
The thing with Manu is that every year, in March or April, people are wondering why he didn't make it to the ASG..But no one is asking for him at this stage..
And coaches are very similar as fans..They underestimate Manu to be in the ASG, but when they get raped by Manu they are always saying: "Well, you know Manu Ginobili, he is an all star player who had win it all bla bla.."
Anyway, the ASG is boring. I don't want to see a game with no defense, no compe ion and only dunks..
Damn Manu with a bunch od re ed turnovers yesterday
But with that nice basket towards the end of the game
Monta Ellis is going.
Roy has a bad knee and may even need surgery. Good chance he does not post enough stats to get in.
There's just too many players in the league that out up ridiculous stats, so I'd say his chances are slim, even though he's off to a great start this season. Even if he keeps it up the whole way, it's still tough.
To me, the ASG seems harder for players to make in the most recent of years compared to the mid to early decade. I'm not basing this off of any statistics, but after following the league rather closely this decade, every year there seems to be more break out young stars, the league seems to be filled with them.
Has anyone else noticed this???
Brandon Roy is injured and not performing to all-star level. So that opens the door to Manu.
Certainly has a shot.
Thing with the Spurs is that they probably don't want Manu to be an all star in that it probably means they've needed him to perform like this every game in order to win games. That means he's playing big minutes and he's carrying a pretty big part of the offensive load. I think the Spurs would feel much better about things if Manu is playing closer to or even under 30 MPG and isn't asked to do so much so that they can pace his body for the playoffs.
Manu has always had the talent to be a perennial all star. If he's an all star this year, the Spurs may be relying on him too much and not pacing him well enough.
If the Warriors remain good, thing I doubt will happen. And even if he does there's still 2 spots remaining. I think Manu has a much bigger chance than most bealive.
I'd rather have Manu jacking up 3's than driving it in all the time, he risks getting hurt or injured every time he drives it in...plus that style of play would take quite a toll on Manu's body.
Eventually he'll start knocking those 3's down, his 3pt shooting will improve as the season goes on which is another plus.
He's shooting 38% from 3, that's pretty good.
he has to keep this up and maybe, just mayybe he has a slim chance.
I mean it wouldn't be the first time he's overlooked. In 07 and y 08 he deserved I recall Sean Luck_The_Fakers_Luck_The_Fakers_Luck_The_Fakers_Lu ck_The_Fakers_Luck_The_Fakers_Luck_The_Fakers_ after the AS break saying "I dare someone to tell me he's not an allstar"
Im done with wishing him in, for some reason when he trully deserves it no coach pick him.
I remember in 05 he had like 2 monster games before the AS to lock him in, even the media was saying a couple of weeks before the game that "he should be selected to denver"
This never gets old. Ducks-Your love for Manu is staggering.![]()
At this point, Manus chances of being selected are probably better than Tims. Unfortunately that doesn't bode well for either player.
It's pretty funny how a Spurs fan can talk trash on a player who was a big, irreplaceable part of 2 championships. Spurs wouldn't win a series without him...
