Don't get me wrong--Kobe Bryant has written a tremendous second chapter. He's become unselfish, as good as he is at scoring, he has become dominant without scoring the basketball, and a great teammate. But there was a time in this league that I could not stand to watch him.

Oh i agree. I hated both shaq and Kobe in 2002-2004 because i was raised on Showtime.
The reason i supported Kobe was because though an arrogant prick at least he came in shape and played hard every night. The other one dogged games and was too busy eating krispy Kremes, impreganting chicks all over the US of A and taking late surgeries. To me kobe was the lessor of two evils and to me the better chance at sustaining greatness.

side note: how come shaq doesnt get clowned for all the kids confirmed and rumored he has "fathered" (used loosely) like Kemp or antonio Cromartie? I have lived in Dallas, San Antonio and of course L.A. and San Antone is the only city that i have visited that there isnt rumors of an ill-legit shaq seed. he has em in NJ, Louisiana, and Cali and Florida ...if stories are true.

The worst part of this is that the Lakers are pretty much guaranteed to win the le now, since Miami was the only team with any potential to beat them..sucks that the NBA is so weak right now, unless the Celtics can miraculously stay healthy..

Hopefully the Hornets, Spurs, Mavs or Magic can pull off a trade or something..
