I think he can develop fine, he has all the tools..however, Vince Carter is one of my favorite players, and for those that were NBA fans at the time, Carter was Blake Griffin x 5 during his first 2-3 years in the NBA..it took a toll on his body, he became porcelain pretty quickly..

Griffin seems a lot tougher than Vince, but dunking and playing like that every night will take it's toll..
Carter had the dunks and the better shot but becaiuse Griffin is a great ball handler and passer for a PF.
I disagree that Vince was Griffin x5 ...that is bull exaggeration.
VC just had more hype because at the time, the NBA was desperate for a young star ...there is much better overall young talent now ...and Griffin's upside is higher than Vince's ...Dont get me wrong i bought in to the carter hype for 2 seasons ...but i like this kid more and I always liked vince since ....UNC ... seen vince since college ...Griffin's ceiling is higher ...

Does "4 rings, got" mean nothing to you?
No 16 rings got does ...LOL

But when ever the Kobe>duncan cuz 5>4 debate pops up the Spur fans pull the Robert horry theory out their ass ... so I was just wondering.

So, when arguing with Mavs vs. suns rings convienently matter, but when arguing with Laker fans rings dont mean ...

    A-ha, I got it!!! thanks JAG ...

Oh shucks, I completely forgot LA had more rings than the Spurs. I should have thought of that before I dropped the "4 rings, got" on you. You're slick.

It's cute how the Spurs have become what they've always ragged others for being - a jumpshooting team.

The Spurs have been a jump shooting team for awhile now. I'll assume you have been saving this post since 2006.

But I thought that woman in your avatar was supposed to save the day. How can a team with Duncan, Blair and Splitter be so soft inside?

Because the Spurs haven't had an offense dominated by 4-down play calling since 2006. It only took you four years to come up with that burn. I've seen worse.

Griffin is dominant and whatever, but I doubt he lasts more than 4-5 seasons at a high level with his style of play..
    I doubt it too.

at some point Griffin will need to develop a jump shot.

    reminds me of Amare Stoudemire.

It was meant more to point out that Duncan looks awful and there's no real inside threat to that team right now. I doubt it's been like that since 2006. Even in the past couple years, they could throw it in to Duncan and he'd produce something worthwhile. But now, it seems as though they're afraid to bang inside and would rather jack up 3s and outside jumpers. I doubt that's the m.o. Popovich is wanting to attain.

That's because you haven't been paying attention. The '07 Finals would be a good place to start.

They can still throw it in to Duncan and he'll produce, but their offense isnt centered around the low post so Duncan doesn't have as many opportunities. If you're referring specifically to his play against Griffin and Dwight Howard then you're not really saying anything that everyone doesn't already know. Duncan has always had trouble with long, athletic centers/PFs.

If Pop wanted a different MO he wouldn't have extended Tony's contract and resigned Jefferson. Duncan doesn't have to score for the Spurs to win, he just has to play defense and rebound. And he's been doing that this season.

Thanks for showing yet another example of how many Lakers fans aren't, in fact, basketball fans, but Lakers fans and nothing more.

When the Lakers finish sub .500 in a future season you won't even acknowledge their existence.

I disagree with the upside..I didn't mean Vince was the better player x 5 though..I meant Vince was Griffin x 5 from a highlights standpoint..Vince had at least 3 highlight of the night caliber plays per game..he played such an explosive brand of baskeball and was always attacking the rim at the time..

My point is that it's tough for guys like that to maintain their bodies in the long-run..Carter developed a good jump shot to keep him at an All-Star level for a while..it's going to be tougher for Griffin to hold up, because his game is in the paint, obviously..
