Could they not think of anything besides save Earth from machines schtick? It's only been used a billion times over.

EA’s online store has leaked BioWare’s big Video Game Awards show announcement tomorrow. It’s Mass Effect 3.
The now-pulled listing was up on the store just moments ago, classifying the game for release across Xbox 360, PC, and PlayStation 3. It wasn’t a blank template either; the listing included both a logo and a description. The description read:
Earth is burning. Striking from beyond known space, a race of terrifying machines have begun their destruction of the human race. As Commander Shepard, an Alliance Marine, your only hope for saving mankind is to rally the civilizations of the galaxy and launch one final mission to take back the Earth.
Guess the rumors (and two more) were right. It was pretty obvious, though, wasn’t it?
We’ll get our first real glimpse at Mass Effect 3 tomorrow night at 8pm EST on eTV. Those who’ve yet to see the original teaser clip can watch it below.

As much as I loved ME2, the storyline was always a weak point for me, after the epic storytelling of ME1. I really hope they get it right for ME3. Hopefully the Reapers aren't ONLY attacking Earth; it seems so human-centric for a game that emphasized conflict on a intergalactic stage.
thinking about some of the big decisions in prior ME games (like selecting which character to kill off in ME1) I'd be willing to put cold hard cash down that there will be a climactic choice something along the lines of choosing to save Earth (human alliance) or the citadel (the council) with one of them being destroyed.
One choice will establish human dominance among the other races (the destruction of the citadel and the council) and the other solidifying the human race as a true and worthy ally willing to sacrifice itself for the greater good of the universe (earth being destroyed).
Not saying thats whats going to happen, because I dont know, but I bet its something along those lines.
I really hope they dig deep and take all of your previous choices into account when dealing with your chances of success. The Krogans, Quarians, Geth, Rachni (and some others I'm probably forgetting) are all potential allies that could easily be left out of the fighting depending on how you handled them.
I just want to hook back up with my alien blue chick. Barring that, I'm gonna hook up with the crazy hot chick in leather

Earth? The Citadel? What? The only thing that needs saving is Shepard's seed. No Krogan chicks tho pls.
I heard from good sources that Legion is going to be the only romance option for ME3, male or female.
