I don't really know about defense in football, I know how to defend passing plays in Madden but I don't really know what kind of plays to use for the run. I have no idea what "Dime" or "4-3" means or anything like that.

Depends what team and defense you're using. Using a nickel or dime defense is going to get you gashed. Go with a base defense, and if that's not stopping the run, walk down your secondary into press coverage.
That could you open you up to getting burned though. I'm not the greatest Madden player, but I'm sure I could get you plays that will do better than what you've done. But I'd have to go more in depth.
depends on the type of run
if its up the guy, pinch your line or crash them in. if they are outside runs without a pulling guard, then you need to slide your LBs to that side, and crash your DL to that side. if they are using pulling guards to set up their run, you need to blitz up the gut through the gap that the pulling guard is coming out of, but make sure you are using either a fast LB or a safety that is quick enough to run down the RB from behind. sometimes if you time it right, you can even get the QB before he hands it off.
and definitely stay out of dime. mainly use either 4-3, 3-4, or 46 formations. nickel and nickel strong sometimes can do a decent job, but i still wouldn't recommend it.
Yeah, I was playing Madden on my iPhone earlier (all EA Sports games were $.99) and I killed the run with the 3-4 and crashing the line.
Just choose the steelers and let madden pick your plays. Easy game
are the refs also bias for the Stealers?
