Ouch!
Best of luck to Caron. Injuries always suck no matter who you are rooting for.
http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/nba...ory?id=5981356DALLAS -- Caron Butler could miss the rest of the season because of a knee injury, a tough blow for the already-ailing Dallas Mavericks.
A person with direct knowledge of the initial diagnosis told ESPNDallas.com's Tim MacMahon that the symptoms indicated Butler suffered at least a partial tear of the patellar tendon in his right knee.
If it is a partial tear, Butler could be out two months. However, if it's a full tear, he would miss the rest of the season. The Mavericks won't be certain about the extent of the injury until they get the results of an MRI that will be taken after Butler returns to Dallas on Sunday.
Butler went down during a loss at Milwaukee on Saturday night. He was coming off a season-high 30-point performance the previous game while picking up the offensive slack because of an injury to leading scorer Dirk
Nowitzki.
Nowitzki has a sprained right knee. He is day to day, and Dallas is 0-3 without him.
"We're afraid that it's potentially serious," Dallas coach Rick Carlisle said after Saturday's game. "We'll find out [Sunday] where things are at, probably later in the day."
Butler, a small forward, is the team's third-leading scorer at 15.0 points per game. He plays an average of 30 minutes. The injury could be especially costly to him because he will be a free agent after this season.
Shawn Marion would be a strong option to replace him, but he missed the Bucks game with a thigh contusion.
Rookie Dominique Jones, the Mavericks' first-round pick, will join the team in Cleveland for Sunday's game. Jones had been playing for the Texas Legends, the Mavericks' D-League affiliate, averaging 18.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.0 assists in 10 games.
Information from ESPNDallas.com's Tim MacMahon and The Associated Press was used in this report.

Man, that is not good. Hope he gets well soon. Last I heard was a couple of months.
DALLAS (AP)—Caron Butler(notes) could be out at least a couple of months because of a knee injury, a tough blow for the already ailing Dallas Mavericks.
A person with direct knowledge said the initial diagnosis is a torn patellar tendon. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the team was awaiting MRI results Sunday before making any announcements.

Sucks,I like Caron and his tough at ude. Get well soon Caron
yep. Got mad respect for Tough juice. Mavs were not as good as their start but they definitely looked like a contender ...I guess the Spurs ARE the best team in Texas ... LOL
damn he is tough and I always liked him. Get well soon Caron!
The way he was squirming out there, you knew it was bad. Tough to see.
Tough Juice. He was playing his best ball since the trade as well.
A little late troll

Damn that sucks..Caron's a solid player, Mavs won't win without him.
Mavs = Done
You wish it was that easy
lol.... you shouldn't be the one LOLing, if Caron is in fact out for the remainder of the season, the Mavs don't have a chance. He's a top 3 player on the Mavs who will need everything against the Spurs or Lakers, just like the Spurs will need everything if they want to get past the Lakers.
And I actually feel bad for Caron, I'd rather not wish something like this for him. Unfortunately for Mav fans, he's the only Maverick that has a chance at defending Manu.
We definitely would be the underdog going into a playoff series with the Spurs without Caron.
Does that mean we would have no chance to beat them? No.
hitler is dead
china has been overthrown by commies
...
just deal butler to cleveland and get varejao + craps. TC gave us an instant boost because he strengthened our C which used to be the shortest stave on our squad prior to his arrival, i envisage the absence of a legit backup PF as the biggest weaklink on our squad right now. varejao plays either PF/C so he/dirk/TC will make a solid triple-guy rotation for the two positions of PF and C.
the cavs are certainly on rebuilding mode now, not like the 8th seeded bucks or 10th bobcats imho
No way any team would bite on a Butler or even Beaubois deal now since both are on the shelf...
why do you end every single one of your post with "..."? Its literally without failure.
financial relief imo. not only they will shed varejao but some other stale contracts into mavs payroll
Butler tests/results coming Monday
The Dallas Mavericks won’t know the full extent of the knee injury to Caron Butler until Monday at the earliest. The initial concern is a torn patella tendon in his right knee, but further tests to determine the injury’s severity won’t be performed until the Mavericks return to Dallas from their current road trip and Butler meets with the team’s doctors.
NBA.com first reported the possibility of Butler suffering a patella tear, according to league sources, after the Mavericks lost Saturday night at Milwaukee. Dallas is at Cleveland tonight.
Asked if the team knew anything more about Butler’s injury today, Dallas general manager Donnie Nelson told NBA.com: “No, not yet.” Dallas coach Rick Carlisle also said he didn’t have any additional information. The team didn’t want to speculate on the nature of the injury before further tests are done.
