...“It’s never just great defense,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. “They missed some shots also. Sometimes you don’t make shots. That was part of it. I thought our intensity level, our physicality, got better. I thought we had a good mix on the court that reacted well.”

...“We lost the other night in Boston at the end of the third quarter and the end of the fourth quarter when we didn’t close,” Popovich said. “We turned it over, we imploded defensively, didn’t execute on offense.”

..."They just kept playing the game,” Popovich said of his Spurs. “That’s a great sign. We’ve done that several times this year. That’s what a team really needs to sustain in this league. We’re fortunate to get that win tonight.”

    Better than fluke losses.

In the end, though, it's all just the regular season. And Ws are Ws.

    First to 30, baby.

Pop you weren't fortunate. It was totally the defensive effort that held the Pacers to a 20 year low in field goals made in a quarter

Pacers, 54 in a quarter against the Nuggets and what, 12 against the Spurs? Talk about up and down.

This game put me in a sour mood... despite the win. The Pacers shouldn't even be hanging with us, let alone having a 15 pt lead. Thank God our D came to life in the 4th. That's the only other positive besides the W.
Although I share the feeling at times, I try to temper it with the understanding that it's almost mid-season and almost all teams throughout history had had rough patches.

That said, last year were were looking at a bleak 2010-2011 season. Who knew we would be atop the league and ing about close wins? I'll take that over the seemingly customary one of the big 3 playing while the other two recover.

No, we have it really really good. We may not win it all, but damn it I am enjoying this season so far.

Well heres the thing, a win is a win so you don't complain. However, one of the difference between championship teams and folders teams is level of satisfaction. There is always room for improvement and teams that get satisfied too easily will never go very far. Guys like Pop and Sloan are so successful because even in victory, they find ways to improve their team. Therefore, while we should be happy with the win, by no means should your mentality be "Winning is all that matters."

Damn, that 4th quarter boxscore is just redonkulous in its inep ude for the Pacers.

    Pts: 12

    FG%: 7 (1-15!)

    3P%: 0 (0-5)

    Reb: 6 (2 offensive!)

I can't wait till Pop and Lj have a battle of the wallets in Chris Ruths steakhouse over a few empty fine wine bottles and Kori pulling LJ off of from choking Pop. Dreams... dreams...

I try to be thankful for Ws regardless of how they get them but I have to vent:

Why did Pop put that small ball line up with Blair as the center? Or was Bonner out there too but I just didn't notice?

What's with that lineup with none of the big 3 out there? Where's the play maker? All they can get is Hill trying to drive to the basket and since he can't pass, Pacer's D can focus on him.

Play Neal more especially when RJ is doing nothing. He needs as many minutes as possible to get ready for the playoffs.

What's with Hill and his confidence in his 3 pter? He passed up a few wide open 3pters.

I love it when the other team makes 1 FG in the 4th quarter.
How many shots did they take in the 4th? Now I know, it was 15.

Yes, but what did we learn from the road trip? Hopefully, the Spurs learned that waiting until the 4th quarter to play defense isn't always going to work.

For those saying this wasn't a fluke win, I'm not exactly sure what you're smoking. The Pacers were 1-for-15 in the fourth quarter. Good defense can claim some of that credit but it's definitely a fluke for a team to shoot 6% in a quarter.

    @ not a fluke.

And seriously, I'll take the win. I really don't care how a win comes. But there's no harm in pointing out wins that required a bit of luck.
wake up. It's the indiana pacers

they were bound to choke in the 4th quarter. It had happened twice before vs. Spurs this season already.
Hibbert + Hasbro are good but young and choked. Also Granger was in foul trouble all throuout the 4th.
All wins require a bit of luck, don't mean it was a fluke win.
