He's supposed to be a hybrid SF/PF that can stretch the floor, but he's a mediocre 3-point shooter..he isn't a standout post up player, he's not particularly good at creating his own offense, he's not a good defender..

Tough for him to develop with two stars that dominate the ball and most of the shots. I think on a better different team he could contribute. don't get me wrong he is playing sucky ...but i think you put him on the celts you would see better production. A PG like Nash or Rondo would help him greatly.

And his value was his versatility ...not as a specialist in any one area ..

Bynum is a good interior defender, but their perimeter defenders are atrocious..Artest is still a good defender, but looks like he has lost a step(to be fair, he looked like this last season too, then he stepped up his D during the 2nd half of the year, IIRC)..Kobe is an average 1 on 1 defender now..Fisher/Blake are 2 of the worst defenders in the NBA..Shannon Brown is a waste of athleticism on the defensive end..

So Bynum is often put in foul trouble due to the incompetence of his perimeter defenders..when he is in the game, he obviously makes a difference on the defensive end..

I'll say this..if Gasol isn't coasting and the mileage of the last 3-4 years has gotten to him(also his rumored hamstring injury or whatever), then LA will be eliminated in the 2nd round, he's way too valuable..

They don't have people that space the floor to the three point line though. If they did it would make penetrating so much easier for Westbrook/Durant

jumpshooters yes, but their lack of 3pt shooting hurts them more than a lack of a post presence.

Bynum is clearly still in the dog house and the refs are letting him know that the league may have recinded the tech but they are stay on him if he continues to throw tantrums. 2 of Drews fouls were complete fabricatioln. Regardless, he needs to react accordingly.
