Funny how Laker fan thinks they can get any superstar in the league for peanuts just like that. Nobody wants to play with bone on bone and Gasoft anyways. Just sit back and enjoy the Spurs' domination of the league for the next few years.

Deron Williams is garbage .... Mitch would be a fool to trade for him. Utah would literally rob the Lakers if they traded cerebral Luke Walton, clutch shooting Derek Fisher and the experienced Theo Ratliff for Williams.

Yea, no one wants to live in LA or play for the Lakers. Definitely one of the less desirable places to live or teams to play for in the NBA. LOL at Laker fans.

Yes, lol indeed. It's not difficult to ascertain that the Purple and Piss are on the decline. Kobe is a shadow of his former self. Pau will be the focal point for coaches since Kobe will no longer demand a double team. Undoubtedly his efficiency and production will wane. How many losing seasons before Phil takes his talents to South Beach to retire? His ego is to large to be a Larry Brown. If the Lakers don't get that blockbuster trade or free agent acquisition then they will rely on their scouts to draft quality players like every other team in the NBA. Mediocrity is in Laker fan's future and it will be bittersweet.

LOL. Our decline may last a while ...(the 90's were rough). But let's put this in perspective our worst decade still had 1 NBA finals appearance and we missed the playoffs once or twice (IIRC).

Your best decade the 2000's netted the spurs 3 les (4 if you squeeze 99). Outside of that the spurs have accomplished what in NBA history?

even if you erase the best decade in franchise history the Lakers would still have more les than anyone but the Celtics. the point? We may struggle in the post Kobe era, but it won't be for forvever. Franchises like the Yankees, Lakers, Celtics, steelers, Red wings, ManU, etc they dont stay down too long. Kobe is a great Laker but we have have had great players before him and will still get them after him.

No doubt man, we're on the same page. Small market, horrible location with regards to where guys want to live/play, an owner who doesn't care about the team, and a team with no history behind it at all. I'd bet on contraction within 5 years, while the Spurs will have 5 more championships by that time. Sucks for the Lakers and their fans. LOL at those morans.

Solid take and point taken. The Spurs had their glory years and it was fun while it lasted. Most of us are hoping to squeeze one more le run before Duncan's wheels fall off. It's frustrating seeing teams like the Yankees, Lakers always getting these elite players while we have to get lucky in the draft to have any hope of competing with the league. Money, endorsements, fame, media hype etc..None of these things come with signing to a small market team. Having said that, I will enjoy the decline for the Lakers, however long it lasts.

HCA is not necessary for the Lakers when facing any WC foes.

In the Finals however, HCA is a huge advantage especially if the Lakers are going against the Heat or worst the Celtics. I've always thought winning at Boston for any team is extremely tough. Lebron, had problems in this arena, so did Dwight and Kobe.

In the past 20 years I think 98% of all NBA championship teams had HCA. For the past 2 decade there are only 2 championships teams that didn't had HCA. Miami in 2006 and Detroit in 2004.

so many superstars from opposing teams are fervent Laker nuthuggers, I just don't understand why. Deron Williams. Kevin Love has made similar comments citing the Lakers as some unbeatable juggernaut despite early struggles. David Lee, same.

The Celtics were a game away from being the defending champions, and yet they don't get nearly as much "status induced" praise as they probably should. Moreover, they are just flat out better equipped to win the championship this year. They have an elite point guard. They have a dominant front court. Their bench is a load deeper.

I just can't fathom why the Celtics are so "under the radar" as far as NBA players are concerned.

The media gives the Celtics their appropriate due, for the most part. But players around the league don't seem to fear them as much as they probably should. I just don't get it.

Because they didn't win dumb .

You can go on and on and on about how close a team was to winning, how much better equipped you *think* they are now or whatever, but it all still boils down to that scoreboard at the end of Game 7.

And this isn't exclusive to the 2010 Lakers/Celtics... history always honors the winner, not the team that was oh-so-close.

    Not relevant to my point.
