I'm in East Texas.
Still coming down pretty good as I was driving to work. The roads weren't that bad though. All powder and no ice.
Well my daughter got to make a snowball so is happy, my son got to roll over and go back to sleep .... so I'm assuming he's happy, too.So, I'm happy.
What a ing let down.
What was that? 1/4 inch of snow?
you Steve Browne.
I thought it was pretty cool, though it was way cooler seeing it at 3AM when it was coming down. It's already melting fast and wet, so it freezes the out of your hands. And it was 3/10 inch FYI.![]()
There's ice under that snow...was driving home last night around 12:30 and cars were spinning out/crashing everywhere...had to turn around twice and look for other streets that weren't closed with wrecks...
The streets became ok to walk on after the snow covered that ice, but that's gotta suck in a car. Especially at 12:30 when it was only the ice.
Nothing here. Well, icy roads, apparently, but nothing like what we were promised. I'd be disappointed but odds are on our offices being open and I really need that to happen.
We gave our guys their paychecks yesterday and told them to stay home if the roads were icy. I'm not getting out till later...
On the way home from my mom's after picking up my kids when I got off from work, I spun out and steered me car towards the grassy side of the street. Cars were flying by and wrecking so I got my kids out of the car and started walking about 3 blocks to a convenience store when an older couple saw me and let into their home so my kids could stay warm.
I stayed there for an hour until my mom picked us up. I thanked the couple over and over and am thinking of a way to pay them back for taking my kids in.
I walked back to my car this morning and luckily it was still there, and unharmed. I backed it up onto a side street (I was facing the wrong direction) and drove home very slowly.
PS. I got to see the end of the Spurs game.
Well, we got the amount of snow I thought we'd get. Pretty sad. And the fact that it'll probably be gone by noon is also sad. Oh well, at least some kiddies saw some snow for the first time.
i'm one of them. haha
Wow. That's a nice, heart-warming story. I'm glad your family (and your car) are all okay.
I don't care about the snow. Alls I knows is I got a free day off.
I made a snow angel with my fingers.![]()
Working from home means I have no excuses so no day off for me.
My kids saw enough snow at Grandma's during Christmas that they weren't impressed by this. Every other kid on the block was running up and down the street at 0800 this morning - mine were inside playing video games
They went out eventually and made tiny snowmen.
I know there are so many people that choose to live in places where they have to dig their out from under snow for months out of the year and are oh, so unimpressed by this () but when this only happens here once every 25 years, excuse us if we have a little fun with it.
Right now it is sunny and beautiful as the snow is beginning to melt, and by Sunday it'll be in the low 60's and beautiful outside while y'all are still trying to unfreeze your balls. So, hahaha right back atcha.
I'm really excited for the kids outside going nuts. My kids are 14 & 15 and have never touched snow before so I took lots of pictures ... because I was their age the last time it snowed here.![]()
A lot of the UT kids were out roaming the drag last night, having snowball fights, lighting bonfires in the street, throwing snowballs at the odd passing car, and similar stuff. Some dude even brought his HUGE hookah and everyone was taking a toke.
Wow, Nathan - what a lovely family. Glad you were smart about things and everyone ended up ok.
As for us, Houston is still pretty iced over, will be until afternoon, and refreeze overnight. Now that my work issue has been resolved (thank you, assorted pertinent dieties), they need to go ahead and shut it down for staff. I'm not leaving, but SFIE is dressed and ready to catch a bus if necessary (which is SO stupid, his office is non-essential). Staff were screwed over on this one, and I'm back to outrage since my got taken care of (by some angel who drove in this am).
If they close it down, I'm going back to bed. If they aren't, I'm working from home, so back to verifications for me. I'm hoping for bed.
Dios mio...20 pages? You guys are goin nuts
Easjer alll you got was ice? Thats nuts.
This needs to be over now---cuz I want to go shopping![]()
