No threads on this so I decided to post it.
This is a terrible ing idea.
What about the relocation plan for the Clippers![]()
The Clippers had their chance at Anaheim, and Sterling passed so that his friends wouldn't have to drive so far. I'm doubly amazed at that a) he has friends, and b) that they would be interested in seeing the ty product he puts on the floor most years.
I would love this. It will be like having NBA league pass for free living in LA.
How stupid. They should move to Vegas. That alone would turn them big-marketish.
I think Vegas deserves a team.
Sacramento already is a home game for the Lakers
Sacramento is crazy about the Kings, much like we are the Spurs and Portland is with the Blazers. No way in this happens.
Fans don't make decisions, the team owners do.
See Exhibit A: Seattle Sonics
Exactly. The Royals/Kings franchise has already moved multiple times. Nothing to see here.
BTW, until Stern dies AND a new arena is put up, Vegas will never have a team.
And that's a shame.. I think Vegas is a good spot for a pro team.
stern did't sound like he was too against the idea of a vegas team on simmons' podcast last week.
FYI, Vegas is ranked #42 of the Nielsen TV markets. To put that in perspective, SA is #37. They'd be better off moving back to #31 Kansas City.
I dont think Stern wants a team in Vegas because of the gambling
Stern doesn't want the Kings in Vegas because nobody goes to Vegas to watch sports, most from Vegas are transplants with old allegiances and no real affiliation to the home-town team, and, as stated earlier, few watch TV in Vegas, it's now officially a decreasing population market and then there's the implication of gambling.
This.
But hands-down, the All-Star game needs to be in Vegas every year.
It's a REALLY ty arena. I recall grumbling by the league in the aftermath. Not likely to happen again, if you add in the fact that it's supposed to be hosted by a team, and that makes 30 pissed off franchises when Vegas hosts.
I don't think Vegas likes the NBA too much either after the disaster of the 2007 game. I went there on gameday in 07 and all anyone could do was complain about the that was happening Friday and Saturday nights, and that was before Pacman Jones started that shootout at a strip club (that was on the night of the game). Bill Simmons' article about that Friday was crazy.
