I'm sticking with my pick, if Rasual Butler is bought out, hopefully the Spurs can get him
Who said he's better than Splitter? Plus he will only 20-25 games to get it together in the Spurs system. We have plenty of experience to show that's not easy. Ask RJ. Ask Finley. Ask Oberto. And so on.
Also, being talked out of retirement...he will want assurances of getting playing time. He will not want to be sitting on the bench and only to be playing sparingly.

Any type of offense the Thunder lose with green is more than made up for with Perk's D (IF healthy).
Green is an extremely streaky shooter who dissapears a lot in the 4th.
I dont think they lose anything in the fast break game either because Westbrook is pretty much a one man fast break.
I think the Thunder are much much better after this trade and definitely match up better with the Spurs. Great move by Presti.
That might be realistic....and he can be a backup 3.
If he gets a buyout, he may just want to wait 30 day and return to Portland where he'll get the minutes. And if that's the case what a sham of a "trade."
I would agree it's a better move for the Thunder. However, it's not one that will get them past the Spurs or the Lakers.
For the Spurs...you have to beat them with balanced scoring from your frontcourt and backcourt. David West, Dirk and Gasol are the options that have given the Spurs problems because they can hit jumpshots from 10-17 ft out.
Perkins can't do that. Nazr has a limited offensive game. However, it does give them much needed size though.
Pop hates to with in the worst of years so I would be shocked if they added anyone at this point.
someone who is a good defender and rebounder.....should we consider him....

These trades leave #Cavs with 16 players on roster. Must get roster to 15. Have talked with Leon Powe about buyout.
Why should he? When his team has the better record in the league. I could if this was last year and how the team struggled in the 1st half of the season.
I'm sure they were looking to add a piece. But in a trade....you have to give up something and the Spurs are not going to do that.

What is Powe's size? About 6'8 or 6'9? Don't know.
If so....that won't be enough even though he would play hard.
Cool...didn't know. just thought he'd fit in well
This. Great pickup if it happens.
It's interesting to notice that all the teams fighting for the 5-8 playoffs spots in the west have made relatively big trades.
To sum up:
Hornets (34-25): Thorton for Carl Landry.
Nuggets (33-25): Melo and Billups for Gallo, Chandler, Felton and Mozgov.
Blazers (32-25): Przybilla and Cunningham for Crash.
Memphis (32-27): Thabeet for Battier.
Utah (31-27): Williams for Favors and Harris.
Suns (28-27): Dragic for Brooks.
I like what Hornets have done. They are my pick for the 5th spot.
On the other hand, Utah will be a lottery team.
Rockets (28-31) has also given up on the season by trading Brooks and Battier.
Rasual Butler is one of the best possible buyout options out there. I was a huge advocate of signing him outright this offseason. Big, long, 3 pt shooter that can play defense. Primarily a SF but has played some 2 at times.
Rasual Butler would be a nice fit. Jamario Moon and Anthony Parker are also possible buyout candidates that would work for the Spurs.
Since Pop is allergic to the prospect of adding more size, I'd have to cosign on Butler
I like the trade for Dragic though. Ditching Brooks was the right move and they got a solid replacement with a pick to boot.
Not sure about the Thabeet trade though. Sure, Battier probably walks in the offseason and it's nice to get something for him now. But Thabeet looks pretty ty right now. Still, at this point it probably doesn't hurt to roll the dice on a high reward high risk prospect.
The trade deadline has been very late this year which means that we won't have to wait along time before the March 1st buyout deadline. If Spurs want to add a good SF, bought out players are the last hope to do so.
Butler is a smart player too.
Jamario Moon - not so much.
And I have no real interest in Parker.
Speaking of the Rasual Butler option, when is the deadline for players being waived and still allowed to join a team and be part of playoff rotation?
Basically agree. Butler, if available, is the best option in that group. I'd still take Moon over Novak.
Must be waived by March 1st. Can sign at any point thereafter.
