Heavyweight bout: Brendan Schaub vs. Mirko Filipović
Gotta pull for CC here. One of the last of the old guard still fighting. Clearly not what he was but hopefully has enough left to knock Schaub's over-bloated head into the 4th row.. If he high kicks this ass-hole into a coma the PPV will be worth the money to me.. War CC!!
Middleweight bout: Nate Marquardt vs. Dan Miller
Easy Pick. Nate will roll over this guy likely by submission or KO. Miller is nothing special on a full camp, this is short notice..
Lightweight bout: Jim Miller vs. Kamal Shalorus
Miller VIA Submission or UD. Miller shows up serious he takes this easy..
Bantamweight bout: Urijah Faber vs. Eddie Wineland
Not a fan of Faber at all. He is very y, dresses like he is 14 years old and is incredibly over-rated IMO. Brown kicked his ass twice and Aldo leg kicked him till it practically fell off.. But he is more well rounded than Wineland and you know the UFC set this up for Faber to have a good UFC debut. They obviously love this match-up.. Faber VIA Submission, RNC..
Light Heavyweight Championship bout: Maurício Rua (c) vs. Jon Jones
Alrighty Then.. I went back and forth on this pick all week long. I think Dallas made a good point about is this too soon for Jones? That GSP had a shot at Hughes at the same age and was not ready but 2 years later claimed the WW le. Does Jones get humbled and have to rebuild like GSP did or is he ready to claim the top spot right now? For me 2 big questions I have in Jones
1) Is he conditioned enough to go 5 hard rounds with an experienced great fighter like Shogun
2) How much damage can he do when he gets the TD
I have no doubt Jones can get the TD whenever he wants but Shogun is one of the best at getting back up and not taking much damage from the bottom. I think Jackson wants Bones to unleash those nasty elbows early and often in this fight and go for the TKO.
For Shogun i think he wants to use his great leg kicks to chop down Jones and hurt his ability to shoot on him. Then knock him out later in the fight or early in the fight if Jones gets sloppy. Don't expect any weird striking from Jones tonight. I expect a tactical battle for as long as it lasts. Everything Jones throws should be with the purpose of setting up the TD..
So I will go with Jones VIA TKO say round 2 or 3. But this is a very very close and truly fascinating fight all the way around.. Can't wait to see it..
