Hey, at least they are consistent no matter who is in power.
Probably. Plays well with the base, and most likely with their respective districts. Of course, it's not like the country, in general, doesn't have a bit of war fatigue at this point.
What challenge is he going to have in the primaries anyways? Probably a token one ala Mike Gravel/Dennis Kuchinich.
Expected. It simply reflects very poorly on them when Obama acts like Bush Jr...
I know, such hypocrisy right? Where was this liberal outrage wen Bush went to war, right?

High five dog.
Ouch.
I oppose it too, and don't care for the company I'm with on it.
http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/The Arab League has played us well. Our intervention in Libya is the perfect distraction.
Now that we're enmeshed in Libya, we will have far less attention to pay to Saudi intervention in Bahrain, or to the regimes' responses to protests in Jordan, Syria and Yemen. And what easy marks we are. We find it impossible to sit on the sidelines as critical events unfold in other nations, and we are desperately afraid that the Middle East, and its oil, is slipping away from our control. Libya, with a madman for a tyrant, is an easy intervention target. Here, the Arab League seemed to say, do you need to make a stand for human rights in the Middle East? Take Libya. We all hate him anyway.
We are gullible beyond belief. Did Obama, Clinton, Cameron and Sarkozy ever stop to ask themselves who really benefits from our intervention in Libya? No, a bottomless stockpile of missiles combined with a sincere, if narcissistic, belief in ourselves as a "force for good" in the world, made us ripe for the con.
If Libs want to end this World Police nonsense...vote Ron Paul.
If fiscal conservatives want to walk the talk...vote Ron Paul.
Obama - Romney '12.![]()
Eh, the members of the Arab League have their own cons uencies to play to. They don't lake Qaddafi, but they don't want to be seen as western lackeys.
A vote for Ron Paul is a wasted vote, other than splitting the right wing vote. He won't be able to change anything without many 100s of Congress seats to vote for his fantasies.
The MIC is beyond reach of civilian control
Then maybe we should have thought about that before believing we had their support for this action.
I think that was likely taken into consideration. If they really didn't support the action, they could have called for an end to all the operations. One member is even sending a few planes now.
I've read that the Arab League was the reason the Hawks in the administration won out so thats a big reason this matters. I get what you're saying, CD, but when Clinton says we have the Arab League with us and they turn around and do this on the first day of operations then their decision making process should be questioned.
Then again everything about this decision reeks of idiocy so there you have it.
Qatar is still sending planes but UAE just balked.
The United Arab Emirates said on Monday that its involvement in Libya is limited to humanitarian assistance, after reports that it would send warplanes to patrol a UN-backed no-fly zone.
Every such action should be questioned. I can just see how this logically may have played out. I can't think of anyone in the international community who wants to keep Qaddafi in power, but I do know a lot of them can score political points by ing about the actions in Libya of the western powers in general and the US in particular.

She said that “we and others have made it clear that there must be Arab leadership and Arab participation. How that will be defined will depend in large measure on what the Security Council decides to call for.”In a separate interview with the BBC, Clinton said there is ‘‘a sense of urgency that was precipitated by the Arab League’s courageous stand’’ on March 12. ‘‘We are well aware that the clock is ticking.’’
I get the political points scoring too. But the fact is that those points come at expense of this actions legitimacy which is the big problem.
It's deja' vu.
