Atlanta is a very small team and is probably the reason he didn't play.

But facts are facts: he's the 5th big on this team, even though , in my opinion, he should the the 3rd big.
FINALLY I agree with you on here, man thats what I wanted to see from you bro! Some sense and the truth! WHere has this been?

Splitter starts 4 games. Spurs go 0-4. Dude hasn't proven anything this year except that a fifth of our losses come with him in the starting lineup. Props to Pop.

How many of those games did Tim Duncan miss? Tiago looked very good in most of the games he got with Tim out, and to say that he isn't a viable 3rd big in front of Bonner and Blair is kind of stupid, in my opinion.

Beat me to it. I bet McDyess/Duncan play a lot less tomorrow night.
Everytime Splitter doesn't play on the 1st night of a b2b the "he's being saved for tomorrow" line gets rolled out. It's online, in the paper, on pre and postgame shows, but as far as I can tell it holds no weight in Tiago's case. A dnp on one night has no special motivation for Splitter - it is what it is.

No matter how mediocre or poor Bonner plays he still gets the minutes, and is the 1st big off of the bench.

The win was nice, but this situation makes my head explode.

and the thing you and your ty observations fail to mention is that Splitter was one of the reasons the Spurs were in position to win any of those games (Portland, Memphis, Denver). and had he played in the 4th in any of those, they may very well have.

Trolls often have ty observations, it's their job. Everyone who watched the games and knows anything about basketball agrees with you.

    Splitter isn't as good.
Your being moronic with your persistance and sublime takes vs. Spitter; despite the obvious signs that he would be at least a top ten NBA starter if allowed to play more and potentially a top 5 center.

Only true "lock" centers getting time in the NBA with potential better than Splitter in the West are a vastly improving Bynum and the vastly under-rated Nene. Chandler blocks less than 1.5 shots a game and is vastly over-rated and in the East only Howard and Bogut are day in and out - true superstars and stars respectively at center.

If only Pop would get over his Ginger and Grizzly Bear fetishes the Spurs would be fine - Manu-_Forever wake up!

I'm not getting into another pissing contest with the "gang up" crowd. I tend to get the ty end of the deal.
Perhaps it's by saying stupid like "He looks lost out there". Are you also one of the people that says he shouldn't be out there because the other team might run Hack a Shaq on him? There's really nothing to rip up since you have yet to back up the whole "work on fundamentals" thing. The only fundamental the team has worked on with him is his free throw shooting and that's been a disaster so far.

He only became the best center in Europe since that time, not to mention the MVP awards.

Yep, even the Clippers can win sometimes.

Seriously, I'm gonna assume he'll play at least a buck fifteen of time tonight against the lowly Kings.

    Splitter isn't as good.
If you're a fan of this team, wouldn't you want to find out? Bonner's been with this team for 3-4 years now. He already knows the system and plays. Why wouldn't you want another option to go if any of the bigs get in foul trouble.

Do you see the teams looming ahead in the playoffs? Memphis (Randolph/Gasol), OKC (Perkins/Ibaka), DEN (Nene, KMart), LAL (Gasol/Bynum/Odom), BOS (KG, Shaq). When Randolph is killing us on the boards and abusing Bonner in the post, is that when Pop and his apologists will be looking for Splitter to help stop the bleeding?

He should have been integrated. There's no excuse - he's not been injured that long and he's played professionally for years (not a true rookie).

LOL at Bonner with 2pts/6reb (1-8) in almost 21 mins while Splitter collects a DNP-CD. Then we wonder why they got in a hole after Bonner checks in.

And Blair's not much better either. But at least his problems are because of physical limitations. He's not hesitating with his shot. Quite the opposite - I swear he never passes the ball out once he gets it. Still the jury is out on him whether he can stand the pressure of the playoffs. With Bonner, we know what's going to happen.

For God's sake, Pop, no Bonner/Blair in the playoffs.

Funny how you talk about facts but post complete bull like the bolded part, and back it up with a four year old scouting report.
Not disagreeing with your overall premise but Tiago does look a bit lost when hes not running a pick and roll. The Spurs run back screens and set up walls for kickouts and he is still getting the nuances of that.

That being said, he has clearly improved dramatically in that regard since hes gotten more time.

Wouldn't any sane person think this is a great opportunity to play Tiago while simultaneously keeping TD & Dice injury free for the playoffs?

    Pop is a dumb ass.

While Duncan's out Splitter started 4 games and didn't play in the 4th quarter and the Spurs went 0 - 4.

1st game at Denver, Spurs up by 5 at half, lose by 3
2nd game at Portland, Spurs up by 2 at half, lose by 2
3rd game at Memphis, Spurs down by 5 at half, lose by 7
4th game vs Portland, spurs down by 7 at half, lose by 8

Anybody with eyes and a brain could see that this would be the toughest stretch in the Spurs season. FOR MONTHS!!!! Someone want to blame these losses on Splitter? Look at these simple f....king numbers. The Spurs did not execute properly in the 4th quarter of any of these games. Splitter was not in the games in the 4th. Tiago was let down by the likes of Manu, Tony, Blair, and yes, Matt Bonner. They couldn't finish.
