CHICAGO (AP) -- Restricted free agent center Tyson Chandler re-signed with the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday, receiving a long-term contract. The team would not disclose financial details.
The team and the 7-foot-1 Chandler agreed to terms on Sept. 1, and Chandler said at the time his new deal was for six years.
Chandler played in a career-high 80 games last season and averaged 8.0 points, 9.7 rebounds and 1.8 blocked shots. He shot 49 percent from the field and 67 percent from the free throw line.
Chandler was drafted out of high school by the Los Angeles Clippers as the second overall pick in 2001 and his rights were traded to the Bulls in a deal for Elton Brand.
Chicago, which made the playoffs last season for the first time since 1998, Michael Jordan's final season, is still negotiating with center Eddy Curry, also a restricted free agent.
The Bulls have proceeded with caution since Curry, 22, experienced an irregular heartbeat that caused him to miss the final 13 games of the regular season and the playoffs.
Now witch Curry gone (I wish him all the best with another NBA team very soon), Chandler will finaly get a chance to blossom....and he will.
