The issue is ‘why should the tax payers of Sacramento fund the foolish business ventures & Vegas casino problems of the teams owners….Sacramento already gave then 75 million which the Maloofs will need to pay back if they leave the City…Orange County has businessmen who will privately fund the Kings with money without any tax payer involvement…

Sad to see them go, if they do go, because they provided a nice little North-South rivalry with the Lakers and were home to some of the most rabid fans in the league. Believe me, Sactown is boring. There is nothing to do but meth and/or Kings games. Anyhow, it's the fault of the Maloofs for trying to push all the money into the Palms when the Vegas economy was taking a serious tourism hit due to the deep recession. They couldn't ponie up the monies for a new stadium and to correct their debt that they then decide to suck up on the fat O.C. money. All the while the fans in dead Sacramento suffer for it.
Boring is an understatement. Been up there once to see a game live. The only other places worse off in Cali are Fresno and Bakersfield.

Interesting..I am surprised that Sacramento as a whole was not interested in voting to keep the only pro franchise that matters.
The only proposal ever put before voters was utter crap, and would have needed to be upgraded within the first 5-10 years. I voted no on that (lived in Sac at the time), and would vote no 100 more times. The private proposals were better, but always fell through.

I guess the whole borrowing of the 75 mil from the city had a pretty big effect on the deal the city presented to tax payers.

Our deal here is heavy on raising taxes that tourists would pay, and raising the ambulance fees 5 bucks IIRC. Even if we dont win in 99', its hard to see us vote no on our team. These old people voting are pretty loyal fans too, I think we would'a pulled it off.

It's too bad seeing the NBA in markets like Memphis, New Orleans, and Charlotte instead of Seattle and Sacramento.

Yeah, but Fresno is close to Yosemite, Sequoia, and Kings Canyon, which are the holy triumvirate of the best places in California.

It's ironic to see the NO Hornets get 12,000+ fans per game while you have the Kings at the upper half of the league in attendance. Yet which team is being moved?

    Re ed.
wow son are you really that ing ignorant??? how about educating yourself on the facts before spewing nonsense like that. The Kings attendance has been either dead last or second to last in like 4 of the last 5 seasons! they haven't had a decent attendance year since the 06-07 season where they were ranked 16th.

Now you all know that I am one of the first ones to bash the Hornets fan base, but your ignorance on the topic has to be addressed. As a matter of fact, the Hornets have had better attendance than the Kings since returning back to New Orleans after Katrina!

    2011
    Hornets - 14,700
    Kings - 13,800

    2010
    Hornets - 15,100
    Kings - 13,200

    2009
    Hornets - 17,000
    Kings - 12,500

    2008
Hornets - 14,181 (First year back from Katrina)
    Kings - 14,150

Only if you've never been to Stockton, Modesto, Manteca, Barstow, Redway, Rio Dell, Milpitas, Rohnert Park, and on and on and on...

There are a lot of crappy/boring cities in California.

I could care less about the Kings or any of their players...BUT, I will always respect the Kings fans and what they did when Stockton and Malone walked off the court for the last time together, so I feel bad for them that they are losing their team.
