Met Sandy Alomar Jr. outside a Tribe game at the Jake during the 1995 season. Real nice guy.

Also met Julian Tavarez that same night. He was wandering around outside the player's lot looking for Manny Ramirez- apparently Manny was his ride. Manny had left a few minutes early and had ditched him. Tavarez spoke zero English. He was wandering around asking, "Where Manny? Where Manny?"

I forgot that we ran into Jeter after an Angels and Yankees game...the guy is definitely a chick magnet. Had the O.C. skeezies ready to go down on him in public!

Only met a few celebs, none of them athletes

Met DJ Shadow once and he was cool as .

Randomly met Seth Meyers from SNL out in Times Square. He was cool but in a hurry.

And just a month ago Ben McKenzie walked onto my elevator at the hotel in Austin I was staying at. It took me a minute to recognize him, then I just kept my mouth shut cuz I couldn't think of the name of the show he was on, and it woulda been super gay to say "I liked you in The OC!" He seemed cool, though.

God bless McSorley and his illegal stick
Crushing turn of events. Still stings to this day.

He really is a cool guy though and you wouldn't think it being the enforcer he was. He had signed some sticks for some kids i had visited in the hospital and i was waiting around to get them. I'm talking to this old guy in the locker room as he's telling me he's visiting from Canada. After about a half hour Marty comes out with the sticks and says... "I see you met dad". I had no clue who the guy was. Two years later I went to the locker room and the old man was sitting there visiting again and looks up and says... "Hi Cobbler". He remembered my name. Blew me away.

Weren't you the one who made a thread about playing basketball with Anthony Randolph, or am I thinking of someone else?

Charles Barkley was a nice guy (during his playing days, he was still with the Sixers at the time).

Bucky Dent was a raging asshole. I would have had no idea who he was except he was wearing a sweatshirt with "Bucky Dent Hitting School" or something emblazoned on it, plus he was wearing a giant World Series ring. So I said something like "Hey, you must be Bucky Dent." He could not have been more put out and a jerk. If you didn't want to be recognized, why wear that shirt?

Brandon Bass was polite but a little standoffish.

No doubt. Hockey players are the most down to earth of the millionaire sports stars from my experience.

Speaking of which... I'm outta here for game 4 and hopefully not another embarassing choke job. Come to think of it, LA Kings and Dallas Mavs have a lot in common. Got to the big dance once to choke and forever live with the 0 for life.

Really? I worked for the Rangers as a parking lot attendant in high school (94-95) and hard the opposite. His wife was supposedly a high-maintenance drama queen. Guess it depends on who you talk to.

I met Shaq one summer in Louisiana while down there for a summer camp. He was just hanging out at LSU, and was a really nice, great guy. I was a little tyke and he went out of his way to say whats up and chat when he didn't have to. I'll never forget it.

But him sideways and halfway to sunday as far as the Lakers are concerned.
