Yeah, they got nothing to lose. This is the first time they have done something like this and are very confident right now. No matter what happens, they already made success. That motivation alone is helping them a lot.
This is all on the Spurs though. They have become soft both mentally and physically. Mentally as evidenced by all the late game malfunctions. Physically because they have no enforcer and they let teams like the Grizz punk them after being embarrassed in game 1 on their own court after Memphis flat out tanked to get them.

That is what I was saying all year when I said the "Spurs losses look much worse than other contenders losses". Spurs, when they play bad, can't win. LA/BOS/MIA....can all still struggle and win games. That is what I was referring to. Spurs are struggling and losing to MEM. Even with them struggling, in theory, they should still be winning these games but they aren't. They have 0 margin for error and we are seeing that.

I wish Spurs fans could step back and read what they are saying and use logic.

    1) Why would a number one seed need bulletin board material to beat an 8 seed?

    2) Did they not already have bulletin board material when Memphis tanked very publicly to get the Spurs?

    3) Were the Spurs not motivated after losing game one at home as the one seed to an 8 seed that had never won a playoff game before?

    4) Do you really need to "Believe" in order for a one seed to beat an 8 seed?

This is not about bulletin board material is what I am getting at. It shouldn't have to be. Asking for that is just Spur homer justification for what has happened. The Spurs just need to play better, tougher & smarter. It's not complicated. There is nothing special. It's just that.

They can & should do that. Lets see if they will.

I wish Spurs fans could step back and read what they are saying and use logic.

    1) Why would a number one seed need bulletin board material to beat an 8 seed? Because the Spurs are the worst 60+ win team in Sports history. The 2007 Mavs would destroy this team in a series.

    2) Did they not already have bulletin board material when Memphis tanked very publicly to get the Spurs? Nope, Spurs stopped caring back at the beginning of March

    3) Were the Spurs not motivated after losing game one at home as the one seed to an 8 seed that had never won a playoff game before?Nope, they've lost many Game 1's before and figured since it worked out 4-5 years ago, it'll work out today

    4) Do you really need to "Believe" in order for a one seed to beat an 8 seed? We need a miracle

Tony is playing like . Manu has one arm. And the Griz post players are bullying the out of the Spurs front court. Calling for Splitter to see court time right now is absurd. I'm sick of the Splitter threads... It's not going to happen. That ship has sailed and watching him sit on the bench is ing embarrassing.

But what's even more absurd are the "stay the course" timvp posters saying "Bonner and Blair need to pick up their defensive intensity." defensive intensity isn't going to change Bonner's skin from white to black, give him hops, make him stop shooting from his hip and give him a sack. Defensive intensity isn't going to make Blair grow 5 inches. It's a ing circus sideshow.

    Would you fear this?

I fear it. In fact, it scares the out of me. Although, if I was on or going for a different team, it would probably make me smile.

    Your questions were rhetorical, imho.

Memphis can and has imposed their will in all 3 games (Grizzlies pace)...The Spurs need to hope the 3's fall or they're ed. The Spurs used to be able to fall back on defense when their shots weren't falling, but they can't even do that now. My fool's gold assessment throughout the year was dead-on, tbh

I remember last year during the finals that this guy played great D on Kobe. He really was a huge reason on why Kobe shot terrible percentages in that series. I remember even on one play his D was so good that Kobe literally kicked him in the neck area and he sucked it up and it didn't say much about it later on. Its amazing that this guy could keep his cool against Kobe but against Ginobilli he's going crazy every game. I think Ginobili is a great irritant and that Allen just despises playing against him. If the spurs can ever retake this series expect Allen to get real dirty. Right now his pride is hurting that he can't guard a guy playing with 1 arm but his team is still winning so he is still under control.

Not exactly. Memphis did impose their will, but they have peaked. They are maxed out. Spurs have a ton of room to play better. They can also impose their will, even if it's not a will conducive to a le.

They are missing a lot of wide open looks. They are out rebounding this MEM team. They are holding MEM to 41% shooting the last two games. MEM is just doing it when it matters.

While I give all credit to MEM, Spurs can still win the series by just playing better. No gimmicks. No tweaks. Just perform better with their current plan and they win against MEM.

Debating OKC and LA is a different story altogether.

You do realize Manu is shooting with 40% with 8 turnovers in the two games he played, right?

Memphis is "doing it when it matters" because they want it more. They're not even necessarily playing smarter, they're just playing harder. Every possession, every loose ball... They want to win more.

Meanwhile... Tony's getting ed up and down the court by Mike Conley's broke ass.

I agree. MEM has gotten every lucky bounce, but you make your own luck. MEM is playing harder and making bigger shots in bigger moments.

TP is the real problem. If he just plays normally, Spurs win out.
