    From Rule 4 Section VI:
    b. A team’s backcourt consists of the entire midcourt line and the rest of the court to include the opponent’s basket and inbounds part of the backboard.
    d. A ball being dribbled is (1) in the frontcourt when the ball and both feet of the player are in the frontcourt, (2) in the backcourt if the ball or either foot of the player is in the backcourt.

The Thunder were inbounding the ball in the front court with about 15 seconds left and leading 98-97. Durant caught the ball with his back foot on the midcourt line (picture on the left), took a dribble, and then stepped on the line again (picture on the right). He was whistled for a backcourt violation but somehow the call was overturned.
Thanks to the bailout, the Thunder got the ball back and Durant hit a runner to make it 100-97 with 12 seconds left. Instead of shooting for the lead, the Nuggets were essentially forced into taking a three to tie — a much lower percentage shot.
As far as I'm concerned, Denver didn't lose this series. Games 1 and 5 are null and void, OKC are up 2-1 and this series will finish next season.

Even if the half court line could be touched, he's pretty clearly past it in the second picture. But it can't be by those rules the OP posted.

Nothing to see here, just the teams that don't have a hype train behind them getting shafted. Not shocking at all.

What is there to not understand. The midcourt line is part of the backcourt. He caught the ball at the same time he stepped on the line which allows him to go into the backcourt. It was the correct call. You can go into the backcourt on an inbounds as long as you do not have possession in the frontcourt first. The foot on the line without sole possession in the frontcourt established his right to the backcourt.

Definitely a brutal call. Sorry, but OKC definitely got the benefit of the refs this series. I was liking OKC and thinking they had a chance for a great run, but now it seems like they're gonna get the benefit of alot of calls and its hard to watch.

Plus, Durant gets way too many FTs for a guy who's not physical and plays mostly in the perimeter. I don't get how the refs give him so many foul shots. Makes the game unwatchable.

OKC got the calls all series long. Why would you expect it to be any different at that time?

Durant gets the Kobe treatment, obviously..

Kobe has made a living out of getting excessive FTAs, despite being a jump shooter..Durant is next in line..

Yeah, I thought this was also the rule. Can someone verify this
