The United States says bin Laden received Muslim religious rites but his body was "eased" into the Arabian Sea so that no one can build a shrine on his grave.

I'm not one to be to much into conspiracy theories but the US dumping his body as quickly as they can into the see does tickle my brain. It does seem a bit fishy(no pun intended), but it's most likely nothing, and I'm just over-thinking right now,

You would think that they would have retained the body for an autopsy among other things with the body though.

His body would be a source of controversy around the world. People in the US will be accused of deficating the body in some manner. Any burial site would be revered by many, our enemies. If he's buried in the US, they are accused of keeping him in the infedel's land. People tear him apart on the streets of New York City would insight violence around the world. If he's buried anywhere, that site becomes a target. The United States doesn't want him, the controversy his body would cause, so they disposed of the body in Islamic tradition, buried at sea. They need an autopsy to see he got a bullet to the head? They got a DNA sample from the body, 99% effective. They used Muslim Imams and whoever else in keeping the body reverent and in the appropriate tradition. They showed respect for someone that doesn't deserve it. This is how we treat our enemies. No need to risk futher bloodshed.

What would you do with the body? Parade through the press and have them take pictures of him? Bury him in the Smithsonian?

I don't get it though...the US is claiming they used proper Muslim tradition, but the quote I posted last page is as follows:

The United States says bin Laden received Muslim religious rites but his body was "eased" into the Arabian Sea so that no one can build a shrine on his grave.

"If it is true that the body was thrown into the sea, then Islam is totally against that," says Mahmud Azab, an adviser to Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb, the grand imam of Al-Azhar, the top Sunni Muslim authority.

I wiki'ed Islamic funeral, and they believe in bathing the body with water, but then they typically bury them. So, did they epicly fail here??? Is Islam "totally against" what happened because he wasn't buried, and just dumped in the ocean?

If so, @ US claiming they did the proper thing, but even more so @ dead Osama and all of the Muslim radicals left butthurt from the incident.

Oh I agree with you for the most part and like I admitted earlier I'm probably just over-thinking things. In the world today it's just very hard to trust anything you hear.

CNN says one shot in head and one in the chest. His wife was not the girl used as a shield. One of his real wives was shot in the calf but alive and in custody with others.

Well if its legit they wanted to honor muslim tradition and buried him quickly they buried him at sea so these muslims ing idiots wouldn't have a place to worship him IE his house which was burned down or his grave site.

Osama has spoken out revealing that he wants to become a martyr. Almost in a jealous tone at times in reference to his terrorist friends that have died before him. This is exactly how he wanted to die ...

Then, why did he use a woman as a human shield?

Yeah I understand that, I just wanted to know why it also was also inappropriate at the same time, and I included my guess in that post.

They followed Muslim law about body burial. Even if there was no law I believe burying the body in the sea or cremating it would have been the best thing to do.

Mouse: There is video of the moon landing too.

Seriously, unlike those other events where they released pictures this was an all USA operation. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they flash grenade and tazed him and have him stashed away somewhere safe. It's not like our security services haven't lied to us before in the name of national security.

If they did bury him at sea I hope it was from the back door of a C130 @ 40,000 feet and he was alive when he rolled down the ramp.

    Cremating is forbidden for Muslims.

Gotcha. I noticed the quote but didn't know how to make sense of it because saying "even if there was no law" can imply you are saying "even if there is no law against it in Islam" (when there is). You have to make more of a stretch to infer it as "even if they didn't follow the law" (or however it would make sense, i.e. the phrase is weird).

I agree though that the choice they made was a good one.
