Micks and Krauts aren't the most family orientated of the bunch nomanches. My pops side of the family idea of warm is a pat on the back and a hand-shake. I was gravitated to my Moms side at an early age hence my strong affection for that side of the family that I claim as the essence of my rearing, in short, "soy mas mexicano que nada"

My mother is a very elegant, albeit arrogant woman with old world Mexican/European foundations, leaning more on the upper-middle class of Mexico. The damage is done (so to say) and am more than convinced that the tex-mex and tejano thing is below me. That's my rearing.

My girlfriend? Let's just say I am slowly trying to convince her that she's an American of Mexican heritage. I've explained to her that should she marry me, she will HAVE TO balance both, not live vivaciously as a tejana or whatever her phucken family is. My family won't have it any other way. She's in the middle of learning spanish, not tex-mex.

That's just the way it is. And you know what, she'll be better for it as funny and phucked up that may sound to you.
