Here are our top 6 favorite stats from the NBA Finals:

1 – Dirk Nowitzki point total in the six 4th quarters in this series: 62. Lebron James and Dwayne Wade combined for 62 points in that same category. Considering his injured finger and how sick he was the last two games, that stat is all the more impressive.

2 – The Dallas Mavericks were 3-0 with JJ Barea in the starting lineup. Rick Carlisle made some brilliant moves in this series, but this was clearly the best one. With more minutes, Barea was able to get more into the offense and take some pressure off Jason Kidd. The two played better and Dallas played its best basketball thanks to the move. Carlisle is too low on the list of most people’s reasons why Dallas won it all, but he is a major reason why Dallas was able to make this run.

3 – In the last two games, Dallas shot 53% from the three-point line and those were the best two games that the Mavericks played in the series. Miami shot 34% for the series.

4 – Miami beat Dallas in assists for the series 117-109 and Dallas turned the ball over more than Miami 79-77… and the Mavericks still won the series.

5 – Despite Brendan Haywood playing just 25 minutes in this series because of an injury, Miami barely outrebounded Dallas 231-226. Much of that was thanks to Dirk Nowitzki spending more time in the paint and crashing the boards, especially when he wasn’t shooting well. He collected 58 boards for the series.

6 – I averaged four friends after every Dallas win that posted the following video: http://youtu.be/MU7-xOdEhzs

The average went up significantly to more than six friends per Dallas win when you throw in those that referenced the video after clutch shots by Dirk Nowitzki.

I was absolutely shocked at the way JJ Barea played in those final three Finals games, especially how he struggled in the first three games. Major props to JJ and to Rick for sticking to his guns with the idea that JJ would make a positive impact in games. I thought Carlisle's love for JJ might be one of his downfalls this season.

Found two more concerning the Finals:

    NBA FINALS Series:

    6-game series

    Highest free throw percentage
97.8% by Reggie Miller, Indiana Pacers (vs. Los Angeles Lakers), 2000
97,8% by Dirk Nowitzki, Dallas Mavericks (vs. Miami Heat), 2011

    Btw, both shot 45/46.

    NBA FINALS Career:

Highest free throw percentage (min. 100 attempts)
    93.0% by Dirk Nowitzki (94 made in 101 attempts; 2006 + 2011)

passing the old record of Bill Sharman (92.6%, 126 made in 136 attempts)

The free throw percentage advantage definitely was a big factor, especially in Game 6.

Wow. 45/46 from the line was huge. To have that level of concentration is ridiculous.
