Some fo those game are great defensive games with great goalie saves. But for the most part those games have long boring stretches of play.
That can be said for all sports though tbh.

except in baseball, where it's one long 5 hour boring stretch

or football, where there are hundreds of 3-5 minutes mini boring stretches.

could you please explain how a 4 hour baseball game that ends up 4-0 is exciting?

    or

a 3 hour football game that ends up 41-21?

    thanks
It's exciting for the winning team and the pitcher that tosses the shutout.
If you watch the sp and really pay attention to the game, the count and his pitches it can be interesting. It is not only about the Home Run.

The problem with baseball is that there are just too many games in the schedule. 162 game schedule so any one game is no big deal unless it is in the last week or two of the season during a pennant race.

A football play lasts less time than the time it takes for the teams to get ready to run another play. And that is even in the shotgun.

sorry I fell asleep after your 2nd sentence.

again, I agree with you mostly, soccer will never overtake baseball/football. But not because of the reason you suggest: "it's boring". Football + Baseball are as boring or more.

You must be from the video instant gratification generation that can't sit for a single minute without getting bored.

I suggest you pick up gambling or fantasy sports to make the games more interesting. Football games are great when you have fantasy teams and a vested interest on the line.

not really. I'm from the generation that believes if you don't care about some spectacle wether sports or entertainment, you will always find it boring. And your opinion on soccer and my opinions on baseball/football prove this theory.

Its already bigger than the NHL in this country and pretty soon MLB then the NBA. Probably will never catch the NFL though.
You're out of your mind if you think it'll soon be bigger than the MLB, and if the MLB is ever surpassed, it would be after the NBA. Americans are crazy about baseball.

it's pretty sad you have to incorporate fantasy games in order to make a sport more entertaining. Such a thing does not exist in soccer.

Exciting was a rather strong word. Mildly Interesting would have been a better term.

If someone can explain how a soccer match that ends in a 0-0 tie can be even mildly interesting, feel free.

Not true at all. As hater said, the sport makes a ton of money through television as is. The 94 cup was broadcast with commercials and that was a ing disaster if I ever saw one. The television broadcasts are doing fine and are already increading. ESPN is showing more soccer on its networks now and that will simply increase as the European leagues come back into season this fall.

I wonder if the MLS already has a larger percentage of its games nationally broadcast than the NBA. That would not surprise me at all. Assuming 10-14 games per week for the MLS and at least 4 of those are national games on a weekly basis then its fair to say that might be the case.
Well what's defined as national TV? Because unless you live in a local network area of a team (ex: Comcast Sports Net w/ Philly Union), you probably have to pay extra to watch MLS. The NBA however is regularly on ESPN, TNT, and ABC.

    disagree.

The time spent waiting for action to happen can at times be frustratingly boring, but when it's in motion, the action most times is infinitely better than watching a soccer ball bounce around a field for 99% of the alotted time.

while I agree soccer can be boring as . Especiallly if you don't care of or don't know the teams.

The typical american homer needs to wake up and realize that Football and Baseball as sports are not much better. Nobody outside USA cares about 400 pound refrigerators wearing tights and banging their heads together. And the delays between the plays is a complete waste of time. I don't think I need to mention about baseball which is the most boring sport in the history of the Milky Way galaxy and beyond.

So IMO any sport can be extremely boring if you don't care about the teams. NFL + MLB are complete fests too given those conditions.
lmao it's hysterical the hypocrisy when it comes to comparing the American sports (baseball and football) with others like soccer, people really have trouble (like Blake is) being objective and changing their perspective.

    respectfully disagree.

a near goal play in soccer 1000x more entertaining than a baseball "hit"

a goal play in soccer 1000x more exciting than a "touchdown"

How about an NFL game that ends 3-6??? Would you be glad you got your satisfying 3 field goals in for the day?? get real, so apparently the final score is the most important piece of information...actually scratch that, in fact it's the only piece to the puzzle that determines the quality of any game.

I wish I would have known about this earlier, instead of watching games I'll simply wait for the results and if the score sound enticing I'll watch the recorded version. It won't be live, but at least I'll be sure to only watch entertaining games.

    sure.

any number of scenarios in a 4-0 game could actually make for a mildly interesting game.

a spectacular walk off grand slam in the bottom of the 9th would be a fantastic finish to see.

a 3 hour football game that ends up 41-21?

    thanks
that sounds like a total of at least 8 scores.

If you don't like to watch teams scoring, I could see how that wouldn't be even mildly interesting to you.

how many times does an NFL game end 3-6?

I can rattle of any number of times a soccer match ends in a 1-1 tie or lower.

I wish I would have known about this earlier, instead of watching games I'll simply wait for the results and if the score sound enticing I'll watch the recorded version. It won't be live, but at least I'll be sure to only watch entertaining games.
for me, the difference is that there are goals that teams try to reach within the games.

imo, a triple in baseball is exciting to watch, even if nothing comes of it.

imo, a 20 yard pass completion on 3rd and 19 in football is exciting to watch.

That's pure bull and this is coming from someone who played American football (and soccer earlier) growing up.

All of those simple runs stuffed by the d line and backers resulting in net gains anywhere from 4 to negative yardage are soooo exciting...and of course, this makes up a huge chunk of playing time of any given NFL game. Of course you have all of the play calling and waiting, commercials all of the ing time (my biggest pet peeve w/ NFL: auto commercials after every kick... punt, FG, kick off...there's nothing I love more than this sequence: TD, extra point, commercial, kickoff, commercial). Then you have your other large chunk of incomplete passes. A good amount of stupid short 5-10 yard outs. Finally, you hopefully have a few nice runs around the outside for many yards and a few nice long passes completed. There are exciting plays, but it's not like watching an entire game is filled with awesome ..which is what you're making it out to be and is what Americans do when they argue that soccer is boring.

Obviously, different things are exciting to different people and that's why we have all of the different sports we have. Everything else is completely subjective. Except for one thing: the amount of time actually playing the game vs. the amount of time spending to complete (or watch) the game.
For some reason, Americans LOVE a tiny former/latter ratio ... time playing/time for game to end.

lol 10 minutes action throughout a 3.5 hour game

That's funny because the biggest reason people watch the Super Bowl is because of the commercials instead of the game. No one really cares about the game.

Wake me up when the players actually do something
