and A&M wants to keep playing texas..... that isn't the point. OU will go with our without them, as will A&M, something Texas thought could never happen to them. Plus, I've heard that meeting was definitely more of Texas begging OU to stay then vice versa.

Personally I think Texas is making a mistake if they go independant. I would love to see them in the Pac-16, but not if they insist upon monetary advantages over the other schools. I think we had a difficult time convincing USC to walk this path and I think it will be even more difficult to get Texas to agree unfortunately.

I don't think Texas will go independent. I think that is Texas's last option. If the Big 12 crumbles and Texas tries to go independent that would be a scheduling nightmare for them, not in football, but for the rest of its sports that will no longer have a conference. They would have to receive treatment like Notre Dame does, where it is independent in football only and the rest of the sports are in the Big East. Texas I think would have trouble finding another conference to accept them into their conference sans football.

Hopefully the dominos start falling soon.

Coming off a 5-7 year despite pulling top 5 classes every year is a great time to run recruiting smack.
