$200 million a year. NBA will never be fair again.
But, um, how much are the Lakers – all by themselves – getting from Time Warner Cable for its new regional sports networks?
$5 billion.
I'd add a "Cha-ching!" sound effect, but no one is fitting $5 billion in any cash register.
That $5 billion is over 25 years – or it'll be merely $4 billion over 20 years if the future option isn't exercised. It has been widely and wrongly reported as less.
Let's pause and appreciate how much money one club, starting next season, will get per year all to itself just from local TV: $200 million ...

the kobe picture with the trophies fits this thread well
Wonder if the NBA will just let LAL have twice the spending of any other team.
Luxury Tax is still pennies after all...
See you in LA next year, Dwight.
Isn't the new luxury tax much more punitive?
wgaf when you have a TV deal like that?![]()
Lavish Kool with praise...do it now and do it fast... I tried telling u negroes...only thing left is to close the deal on Dwight or else it won't mean ...
let's not celebrate just yet...but we can however sing...
we got who we wanted...just like always
mouthbreather
I agree he has some in him no doubt about it...but those kind of people usually do special things...![]()
what's cool about the promo is that they asked Dwight if he could co-exist with Kobe and Dwight says:" We've been teammates before".

The Knicks have a better deal in NY and just look at how they've dominated the league.
Knicks have always had a pretty ty FO, not a good example.
It's the only other available example. Who else has a huge TV deal?
Not really a good one though, you can give aids 200 million dollars and he would sign up Baron Davis on a 5 year 100 million dollar contract. Without a good FO, re s like the Knicks can't make much of an impact no matter how much money they have.
the cowboys make way more money than that and they have not done for the last 15 years, same thing for the yankees. look at mark cuban, he spent a ton of money for years and finally won last year. money is not the problem, just need the right players to win.

To put this in perspective, the league paid $310 mil for the Hornets.
Every other year, the Lakers could buy a small market team like the Hornets on their local tv profits alone.
For $5 bill, the Lakers could buy out 16 small market NBA teams or over half the league and still have $20 mil left over.

your telling me thats not already happening? damn.
Don't see them spending 120+ mil, so no, no they are not.
