Aw .... you're trolling me, right?
Vince Carter has never been much more than a spot-up shooter, like Ray Allen only not quite as good a shooter as Allen. We will always have one of those on our roster, we have one now named Gary Neal, who is younger and more athletic. We don't need Carter. We need shooters who can also play good defense.
Aw .... you're trolling me, right?
So is Bonner; it's not much of a standard.
Who needs bigmen when you have loads of "Corporate Knowledge(tm)"?![]()
Huh? Finley's a power forward, not a shooting guard.
Can someone tell me what the strategy is here? recruiting for a SF (Butler, Carter, Howard) seems to be more than smokescreen, why would Butler and Howard visit SA then?
Assuming the idea is to dump RJ now and replace him with a servicable SF, how's that going to happen? Through a trade or amnesty plus FA ? I just don't get it
More like,move over Tiago Splitter
Good God, how much worse can it get?
If this is true, it certainly couldn't be because Finley needs the cash. After all, he's still getting 5mil per year from Cubes until 2015.
I hope the Spurs brass are smarter than this.
God, I hope Butler accepts the Spurs offer then if it means keeping guys like Michael Finley and Vince Carter away from the team.
Well, since it came directly from Parker, there are zero doubts than Finley is at Spurs facility. He is practicing with the young guys and Tim. Manu and Tiago will start practicing tomorrow. However, it doesn't mean Spurs will offer him a contract.
Well damn... if Spurs are going for these past their prime players for their FA pick ups they should at least go with one that has an actual heart like Shane Battier. He may have lost allot of his abilities but at least you know you will get 100% of what he has from the guy
I doubt they're "pursuing" Carter. What they're probably doing is their due diligence. In other words, if they do what it appears they're on the verge of doing, which is trade Jefferson and parts for a big, then they'll need a veteran SF and they'll have limited financial resources with which to work. So it makes sense to at least touch base with the agent for virtually any half decent player capable of playing the position, even if the player is a fourth or fifth option. Because if it comes right down to it and they fail to sign Butler, Howard, Evans, etc., who's going to say no to Carter if the alternatives at that point are Finley, Simmons and Udoka?
First (possibly) Oberto and now Finley? Are we trying to assemble the 07' Championship team?Call up Horry and Barry while you're at it....
Understand.
Still, I can't get his motive. Anyone who watched Finley's brief cameo appearance for the Celtics, in the 2010 NBA playoffs, would've clearly seen that this guy is way past done. And he should know it too.
After watching helplessly as Finley got scored on via dribble drives on two consecutive possessions, Doc Rivers called timeout and mercifully took him out of the game. He never played another minute in a C's uniform.
I remember those 2 possessions. It was pretty funny.....
Pop never cared about Finley's ability to let guys score on him, so long as he was jacking up shots on the other end.
is there footage of this on youtube? I'd like to see it.![]()
Give me some legit news!
Yeah this is prolly due diligence/smokescreen/currying favor with agents. RC almost always finds good/intriguing players for the team...the problem is that too often the promising young players just dont get enough minutes.
The Spurs FO doesnt give a about the fans
They are disrespecting us, insulting us and taking us for granted
Well, Im gonna root for another team; they can go themselves
Why the would we chase Carter when we have Manu, Neal, JA, Leonard, Green and (ugh) RJ? This is BS
We need a big and a backup PG, and that's all we're gonna do.
Vinsanity!
yeah!
Noooooo! Vince Carter is done mentally and physically. Would be profoundly stupid.
Maybe we dhould go after Krilenko, he's doing well on Europe.
