The Pacers have decided to amnesty James Posey and his $6.9 million contract, league sources tell Y! Sports.

Hopefully that means the Pacers are clearing the way for Josh Howard. I wouldn't want Posey either, he has been done since 2009.
More likely to keep them under the cap so that they can bid on a guy like Billups who has been waived using the amnesty.

Free agent forward Reggie Williams still talking to several teams, including Charlotte, Detroit, Sacramento, Denver, Toronto, sources say.
oh God thank you. spurs not talking to Reggie Williams.
I'm reading the headlines:
Mavs acquire Lamar Odom
Spurs make offer to Josh Howard
The same... but different.
The Kings have enough small forwards. Not sure why they're talking to Williams.
spurs should go after posey. if they throw a few million towards his way, it will be worth the risk. a posey/howard SF rotation would be like doubling down and i think the spurs should do it. if that fails, they always have kawhi to fall back on.
How does the bidding process work? For ex, if you bid 1 mil, and someone else does 1.1, can you come back at 1.2, etc? Or is it a blind auction. This will be interesting to see how it works.
Believe it's a blind auction.
Words been spreading about possibly using the amnesty on Salmons and signing Williams.
What's the word on John Salmons play as off late? I know a lot of Spurs fans here (myself included) wanted him back in 2009.
Not sure either, but if Sacramento is praying they ship him out I doubt he'll be of any use here.

Rip Hamilton was bought out by the Pistons and waived also. He might be a decent fit for the Spurs. Better defender than RJ and much more confident offensively....
Rip's a two guard. Not needed.
No thanks. Not only is Hamilton already one the downslope, but the Spurs already have a logjam at the SG position. Manu will take the majority if minutes, and the rest will go to Neal and Anderson. Unless the Spurs plan to unload either of those in a trade, no reason to add another 2.
Expected to sign with Chicago.
Hamilton's going to the Bulls. Nailed on.
Also, Hamilton is a 2, not a 3.

Chauncey Billups has been claimed by an NBA team off amnesty waiver -- but it isn't the Nets, league source tells Y! Sports.

Also could have amnestied Kaman. This is going to be real interesting to see how they did this.
