Quite frankly the amount of tax payer money this country uses to keep people in their 80s alive at the expense of education for people 20 years and younger who actually have something to contribute to society is appalling.

Watching someone who incessantly whines about welfare and big government continuously argue that tax dollars should go towards healthcare of people who were irresponsible and didn't save up enough to take care of themselves if really hilarious tbh.
But to answer your question, I plan on proper diet and exercise most of my life, along with saving up a lot of money before I retire. If my health deteriorates to a certain point I'd much rather die then live out the rest of my days miserably.
Almost all senior citizens 75 years or older (especially ones in nursing homes) are on some kind of anti-depressant, be it Lexapro, Effexor, Celexa, or something else. They realize they've become nothing more than piss and factories and really dont want to be alive anyways
Apparently you only see things in black and white. Maybe you should think about the differences, and how I have already explained what I feel are valid exceptions.
Besides the shades of gray, maybe you should upgrade to color as well. Nice HD TV's are coming down in price you know.
What about the handicapped? Just let them die? What about the elderly who did plan, but already liquidated their assets as required for some benefits? Shouldn't we at least allow for a more comfortable living or our seniors last years with us?
Now i would draw the line at expensive life extending procedures and drugs. This is for people who can afford them. Not for the tax payers to pay. Still, easing a person's transition into the next realm I think is the proper thing to do.

Great counter argument. As ElNono said, welfare is welfare, and socialism is socialism. Medicare is a form of both welfare and socialism. You support welfare and socialism in a way by supporting medicare.

If easing a person's transition is this issue, give them a nice, civilized assisted suicide when their healthcare gets too expensive. Some old who's been smoking 2 packs a day her entire life and needs lung cancer treatment shouldn't be the taxpayer's responsibility.

Something that pisses me off is seeing someone get a heart, liver, or lung transplant that are abusing themselves with drugs of some sort, when others who take care of themselves need them too. Isn't the better candidate the one who will likely not destroy the new ones like they did the ones that they originally had?
There are few absolutes in life. Only an idiot only sees one extreme or another without seeing the vast area between, or allow merit based exceptions.

That's why I support a universal healthcare system that's literally done on a case by case basis. Self inflicted health problems should mean they're on their own, health problems they couldn't avoid should be covered. Age itself though should not be grounds for complete government healthcare coverage.
