Chicago busting that Celtic ass at the half. Ray Allen's jumper is proof that you can be an Old G and still be damn good - even late in your career. That jumper is going nowhere fast.
That said, those that expect Kobe to fall off the map need to recognize that you don't need a 45" vert to be effective. Kobe still has his hops as evidenced here giving the Suns 48 problems:
I think Kobe can play for another 3-4 years because of his jumper. Looking at Ray Allen and what he is doing proves it for me.
Kobe's shot selection and jumpers are terrible. He won't last as long as Ray Allen. Mind you, the guy will be good till last day of his current contract. But he won't mantain his current production for long.

KG with 4 pts, 3 rebs in 20 minutes. Meanwhile, not only does Pau outrang him 2 to 1, he giving us 16.4 ppg, 9.7 rpg, 2.2 apg, and 1.5 bpg. KG...the player I'm GLAD we didn't get.
Kobe & Allen is a poor comparison. Allen is more like Reggie Miller, as Kobe is more like MJ
I know they play the same positions but Allen always hovered around the Perimeter because he had the once in a life time 3 point shot. That kind of shot is like having a great off speed pitch in baseball. You can make a living as a journeyman relief pitcher with that one pitch
Just compare their rebounding stats. Kobe is much superior career wise. Not because he's a far superior rebounder but because Allen played mid range-long range. He did drive to the hoop with the Sonice but not as often as Kobe
Ultimately. Kobe isn't and never was as good of a shooter (especially from 3) as Allen but there are only a handful of players ever that were. And none are TOP10 players of all time

The "gangbanger" is the best PG in the NBA Chiris Paul and Dwill have been surpassed and Rondo may pass them if he can develop a consistent jumper.
