Smith says the Knicks, Clippers, Lakers, Thunder and Bulls are among the teams he's considering joining once his season in China ends, according to NBA.com's Adam Zagoria.
That's a lot of teams named and none of them are the Spurs

He doesn't want to play here.
...and I think that is mutual. He is quite clearly not "over himself" yet.

I'm glad they didn't trade him for Brent Barry in '07. He hit alot of huge 3's in the playoffs. Basically he was the anti-Bonner. If he was wide open you could count on him hitting that 3.

I've never seen anyone this bad in the league this long reform in any meaningful way. You point out that he's only 26, but coming into the league at 18, he should be way further along than he is. If he comes back and plays, this will be his ninth season in the league.

To grow up requires an accountability that few want to lay at the feet of a professional athlete. Most won't tolerate it.
Good point. Some guys just never grow up. I remember Steve Francis and Cuttino Mobley always saying after a loss to the Spurs "we're a young team" and they continued to say that even when they were an older team than the Spurs.

. Smith has significant interest around the NBA, including the Lakers, Knicks, Spurs and several more potential contenders."

Seriously? They identified these three teams as contenders?

I don't believe this rumor for a second. JRS doesn't have the discipline in his game to play in the Spurs system and can't see him playing under Pop. I seriously doubt the Spurs have interest in him and I'm sure the feeling is mutual.

IMO of course the Spurs would want JR, but he's not coming here. Not because he's a knucklehead (although that plays a role) but you can tell that he wants to be in the spot light. He'll be a Knick IMO.
J.R. signing there isn't a big surprise. He got the most money and is in the spot light of the Garden. Would have been nice to get him to make a guy like Neal expendable (he still is for a big man, but this would have made it easier).
