At this point Blake is basically pulling a lefty and pretending he was kidding the whole time he was saying Welker was a true #1 receiver
    Wtf are you talking about

Wes led the NFL in receptions.

    #1

That or it'll be the ol' "Well, Wes is TECHNICALLY the #1 WR, Gronk plays TE!"

Either way, I'd rather see him used to his strengths rather than being forced to be something he's not.
Clearly Welker hurt the Patriots offense by Brady forcing the ball to him.

Rofl at the turn this thread is taking.

He's not going anywhere. Welker is a damn fine receiver and this play doesn't change that. Same thing with Kobe, dude leads the NBA in points but sometimes misses that crucial clutch shot. Doesn't change the fact that he's a damn fine basketball player.

Kyle Arrington led the league in INT's, clearly he's the best DB in football

I didn't know he was a good basketball player. That's very commendable given height.

Brady throws a slightly off target pass and the wide open midget struggles to adjust to the ball, gets it in his hands, and drops it.

Eli throws an incredibly off target pass and Manningham adjusts beautifully, makes the catch with two defenders draped all over him, and manages to keep his feet inbounds the whole time.
    Pretty much sums everything up.

Don't forget that if New England had a free safety worth that ball to Manningham might have been picked off. With the exception of the play where he lit Nicks up, Chung was late on every play.

lol supporting a white guy once to not look like a total racist.
Uh, I've never said whites made ty WRs. In fact, I never said anything about whites and football positions because I simply don't believe in it. Don't get me twisted.

In retrospect is cutting Meriweather a bad decision? He wasn't great but he certainly covered more ground than anybody else in the secondary, plus he let Chung play his natural position.
I said from the start it was a bad decision. I hated the er and his lack of discipline but he was still a better free safety than anyone else on the roster. His hard hits also had a reputation around the NFL (as overrated as they were) and scared a lot of receivers.

Come on seriously? Don't let your hate of Kobe Bryant blind you from the truth. He is a damn good basketball player and you know it.

    lol i tl;dr'ed creepn's post

    comparing Welker to Kobe

Welker was a , irrelevant player without Brady. Troy in Brown was basically as good as Welker playing as Tom Brady's slot receiver.

At this point it's obvious BB has no idea how to develop young DBs consistently without them taking a massive unexpected dump in their 2nd season.

Either hire a real defensive coordinator who can focus solely on developing young players, or fix the secondary in free agency with veterans who don't need a coach holding their hand. BB's recipe of using a 1st or 2nd round pick on a corner or safety every in year, moving that player around so he can never get comfortable at a position, then cutting said player, obviously isn't working.

tbh other than Asante Samuel I don't know that he's ever developed a decent DB. Ty Law came before he was coach, same with Milloy, and he got Harrison out of free agency. Eugene Wilson was decent but I think even he was a pre-Belichick pick.

Ellis Hobbs is the 2nd best corner of the Belichick era
Tbh look at all the early picks (Meriweather, Wheatley, Chung, Butler, McCourty, Dowling) he's used on the secondary since 2006. The output of all those draft picks shouldn't be a completely secondary.

Tbh I'm not counting out McCourty and Chung yet, but all signs point to them being victim's of BB's love for position changes. Moving Chung to free safety was something most high school coaches would know is a recipe for disaster. Making McCourty change positions just because the other safeties on the roster suck was also really stupid.

Rofl that you think he wouldn't.
Of course he wouldn't. He would be in the slot. He wouldn't line up wide.

And London Fletcher led the league in tackles. Clearly he's the NFL's #1 defensive player.
Welker led the NFL in receptions.

Clearly he was the NFL's #1 pass catcher.

    Thanks for finally realizing that.
Since Brady put up MVP numbers and the Pats were one hail mary away from winning it all, I didn't think I needed to use det blue.

The same place where Reche Caldwell and Troy Brown were starters at slot receiver
