Honestly, I think the Knicks will go on a winning streak with Carmelo out. That fat er shoots them out of a game. If they can get Amare back and Melo misses a month or so, they will easily be a playoff team. Fat er is overrated.

Why would being one spot out of the playoffs be more advantageous? How much better is that draft pick going to be? Giving a young, talented team some playoff experience would be just as valuable imo.
It will likely be more than one spot, since the 9 seed in the west would almost always be a 5-7 seed in the east.
The Rockets aren't in the east and the quote said 9th. Not really worth a splitting hairs over. Thanks for the microscopic analysis though.
