Orangebloods is reporting that 2013 Arlington Martin ATH Kyle Hicks has a Texas JD1 invitation. I really like this kid. He definitely fits Texas' new direction of recruiting players that can play multiple positions. I think he's a take as an athlete, and possible project at RB.

My write up on Hicks from the Red Bull 7 on 7 Tournament: http://www.burntorangenation.com/201...ath-kyle-hicks

Arlington is an area I'd like to see Texas recruit better.

Texas seems very interested in Hicks. GH just said Hicks is the coaches' top priority at RB in state, and an offer this weekend is very possible.
I had a gut feeling that Texas would take a project at RB in 2013. I hoped the project was James White, but Hicks had an excellent junior season.

A few quotes from ATH Kyle Hicks:

"The Texas coach, coach (Bruce) Chambers came up tot the school and told my coach they'd like me to come to their junior day. He said they were very impressed with my highlight film," Hicks said. "Then they sent me some stuff in the mail probably a week ago."

"I talked to Coach Applewhite on the phone. He was just saying that I was good player, that he liked my playing style, that I'm a really smooth runner and that I can be big in the future," Hicks said.

"They're just a high power football school and I like them," Hicks said of the Longhorns. "I like the coaching staff. I grew up watching Texas. They've been a good, successful team and I just like them."

I still wonder if these are the actual Nike mock-ups sent to the school or just some dude playing around with Photoshop. I tend to give Nike more credit than that.

Those helmets look awful. The only one that is passable is the last one...I guess.

    .

I could tolerate a mirror white helmet with the traditional burnt orange steer head on the sides for one game.

The throwbacks worn in the 2009 TAMU game were also tolerable. Anything further would be a crime.

Honestly, if we field an Alabama level defense and USC level offense I don't care if the kids want to wear pink with Care Bears on the helmet. Just win.

Fozzy definitely has NFL level ability. A place can be found for him to be used, whether its a returner, 3rd down back, or whatever.

Wilson favors LSU, will attend UT junior day

    February, 9, 2012
    By Max Olson

Ishmael Wilson (Dallas/Bishop Dunne) wasn’t happy to leave Baton Rouge last weekend without an offer from LSU, but that slight hasn’t hurt the Tigers’ chances of landing one of the state’s top junior offensive linemen.

“My favorite school is LSU, hands down,” he said.

Wilson attended LSU’s junior day last weekend and was confident he’d get his offer. But coach Les Miles had yet to see any film of Wilson’s junior season, and he wouldn’t offer until he spent time breaking down the tape.

They offered Swoopes as well. It's a tough decision for UT no matter what.

It's almost as if tOSU offered Swoopes before Barrett. Right? Just to be safe, I'm going to go freak out over at Hook Em 247.

Bama and Auburn have also both offered Swoopes and are recruiting him hard.

For those that don't know, Ricky Seals-Jones and Tyrone Swoopes happen to be pretty tight. So a commitment from RSJ would go a long way with Swoopes. Just another reason an early commit from RSJ would be a huge boost.

Our biggest threat with RSJ is clearly LSU - where he visited last weekend. In a case of perfect timing, read below story on Jordan Jefferson if you have not seen already. Fuel to the fire with the negativity around the LSU program and a nice boost right after RSJ just visited and is about to attend JD1.

“We have great (wide receivers) and sometimes we just wonder why we don't use those guys. But we're not the one calling the plays. We still have to go out and execute what the coaches and coordinators are calling. We can't complain as players, but sometimes we do question that. ” -- LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson

Quotes from OT Ishmael Wilson as he prepares for UT's Junior Day (Hook 'Em 24/7):

“I heard it's (Texas) a beautiful campus and that's what I want to see,” Wilson said. “I want to see a peaceful environment I can see myself in for four or five years.”

“I never really thought about Texas until I moved here,” Wilson said. “It's a good football school, and (2012 four-star defensive tackle Alex Norman) is going down there. I know it's going to be nice.”

“From being at the school (LSU), it's like I was a fan again,” Wilson said. “I couldn't stop smiling. Every room I walked in it was nice. It was amazing.”

“I have to look at it as a player – I can't look at things as a fan,” Wilson said. “I didn't dream of playing against LSU, it was playing for them. I have to make the best decision for myself, though, and that's what everybody who goes through this process has to decide.”

“I like the uniforms and I like what they did this past season,” Wilson said. “I want to see the campus and see what they have to offer. I like Oklahoma State a lot.”

“Those are all the trips (Texas, A&M and OK State) I'm planning on taking,” Wilson said. “If anything, I'll make a decision after I see everything.”

“I want a school that has a sense of urgency to want me there,” Wilson said. “If the school is losing some linemen and there's a chance to me to come in and start if I'm in shape, that's what I'm looking for. I don't mind waiting, but the sooner I can play the better.”

“It's exciting (the recruiting process). I try not to smile when I see the coaches come through,” Wilson said. “It's fun, but I know I still have a senior year and I need make sure I stay on top of my grades. I just have to stay in touch with reality and keep it all in perspective.”

247 is saying if Swoopes does not commit this weekend, they will offer JT Barrett next junior day. Will be interesting to see how this plays out. Swoopes has said he wants to wait until end of summer ideally to make a decision.

I'm really afraid of the recruitment of Ishmael Wilson. I can already see the future if he commits to Texas in the next months. He commits to Texas because LSU didn't offered, the Texas coaches ignore other great OL bc they already have what they want. Then somewhere in November or December LSU gets in the picture and Wilson switches his commitment and by then we already missed out on the other great OL and we have to settle with a mediocre OL to replace Wilson's scholarship.

He seems way too in love with LSU and WILL go to LSU when they offer and they will sooner or later.
