the only mobile OS really doing anything that stands out as somewhat innovative is wp8.

So did it work?
u must havent tried ICS.
It's still pretty much more of the same. wp8's tiled interface is a big break from the same basic look Android and iOS have.
My wife got me into using Cozi. This is a good family organizational app. It has a todo list, calendar, shopping list, and a journal (though I dont see a need for this). It has a common user login that the family shares and everyone sees any changes made. It syncs with google calendar, and you can specify who each calendar event is for. The shopping list can be subdivided (costco, HEB, Big Lots, etc). Most of it is functionality that already exists in one way or another, but it seems to pull everything together in a good way.

I saw this glowing review here for iOS and Android:

You can store ingredients for favorite recipes in it, which sounds pretty sweet.
well interface is pretty much the same, but ICS has a mul ask bar so you can switch from app to app without closing. Similar to the PC bar at the bottom. Also, it has Android Beam which i FINALLY used since my brother got a nexus now. lol
What are some must have apps for an Android?
The wife uses allrecipies for something similar which has the added bonus of providing a "spinner" where you can select which ingredients you have as well as the type of meal and the time you have (Beef, Appetizer, ready in 20mins or less) and it will provide recipes which match that. She has an account online where she saves her favorite recipes too...
Cool. I still just email myself recipes and pull them up in the store outta my recipes folder in gmail.
Android 2.3 - need an app killer
Android 4.0 - no need for an app killer

I just like to post semi-relevant stuff. Beats the iOS/Android taunts unless I am really bored.
Beats Audio on any rooted phone:

Weird, I didn't know the whole Beats thing was just a glorified equalizer.
Ah, ok. Didn't mean to come off prickish.
You didn't
It's a web app, but still pretty neat. Tethering without jailbreaking or paying a carrier:

Edit: Looks like you do pay the creators for it, but it's $30/yr
if you like wp7 but have android try launcher 7. works remarkably well, and effecient. but it takes some time to set things up.
