It has been a long time since I took one, but I remember the ters in the stations were every bit as bad as the ones on the bus.

Never been on a greyhound but if you haven't already bought your tickets I'd recommend the Texas Eagle, too. The seats are (were?) much bigger than on a bus. I rode it back around '89. I went to New York via Chicago. But it stopped in Dallas. You get to see countryside that you wouldn't normally see unless you love Bucee's and Stuckey's kind of places. You can get around to a few places in Dallas on the DART and even to Ft. Worth on the commuter train.

The only thing that happened on the way up to Chicago was that a guy got out his bag of weed, put some in a pipe and lit up. A guy he was talking too said "man, don't be doing that you'll get kicked off". Other than that it was a tame ride up. There was a hard freeze in Texas on the way back and the train was the only thing moving. Got lucky.

Watch out for snakes! Oh wait, that's on planes, nevermind.

If your bus seems to never slow down under 50 mph, then you have serious problems, and there might be a bomb rigged to your bus.

I once went up to Dallas on greyhound to bring a car back to SA.

Lady next to me gnawed on sunflower seeds, spitting the s s on the floor while hogging the arm rest the entire time. No room to stretch.

Miserable 5+ hour trip. Never again.

Oh yea, I just remembered.....a lady I used to work with took her kids for a weekend at Disney or something and the whole gang came home with lice; when she complained, they said "Well ma'am we try our best to clean up between runs...."

How does she know Mickey or Snow White didn't give them the lice.

You seriously gonna take a bus? I'd take the train. Probably cheaper but a little more travel time. Less urine, and armpit stench too
    Trains are not remotely cheaper.

I don't remember Greyhound being all that bad though, seriously. It's not like you'd be riding a busted up LA city bus or something.

Everybody knows that lice are species specific-----mice lice don't cross over to people or vice versa. I suppose Snow White could be carrying dwarf lice though

I said "probably", Fluffy. Checked it anyway. Bus was $4 cheaper, flapjack.

The airlines are not much better but a train from Dallas to Miami on the 28th is over $450 one way. SW had fares at $440 on the same day from Dallas to Ft Lauderdale.

i like the train but it is just as expensive as flying.

I don't know why I bother trying to be civil with you but i will try and raise the bar. Apparently, the line between Dallas and San Antonio is much cheaper than their interstate stuff.

I have taken the Amtrack cross country before and its not cheap.

Trains get way more expensive when its not a direct run. It makes no sense for you to take the Bus when its more than one of you as its likely to be more expensive than driving and its sure as going to take you longer and be more miserable.

    Greyhound just plain sucks ass.

We're going to Dallas next month and decided to take Greyhound. First time ever traveling by bus.

Please list your bad and good experiences. Thanks.

^ why I voted #1 on my ST top 5 poster list!

The year was 1986, I took the Greyhound bus from San Antonio to Milwaukee / Chicago with two kilos of coke in a baby blue suitcase....do the math.

It was the longest ride of my life.

The whole ride I thought about my probation officers face.

I had to take a Greyhound out of Detroit to Northern MI. Made some small talk with the complete stranger sitting next to me for a few minutes, then he took off his jacket and put it over his head. I'm thinking he's going to take a nap, right? Instead he reaches over, grabs my hand, pulls it under the jacket and starts sucking on my fingers before I could pull away. I was only 18, so that was easily one of the weirdest things that had ever happened to me at that point in my life

Let me ask this....did you still have the two kilos of coke when you arrived in Chicago? Or did you share?
