MWP should be sat for 5 games + however many games Harden misses, minimum. What if Harden isn't right for the entire playoffs and MWP is playing most of the 1st round? That's acceptable?
David West got one game for punching Mike Miller in the back of the head from behind with no question as to intent. Pretty similar risk of a head injury with both plays. If that's anything to go by then MWP gets 1 + 1 extra game for being a repeat offender.
Nam, have you ever actually been punched or thrown a punch before? Usually one closes the fist.
That said, West could at least claim he was trying to foul. (And splitting hairs, I'd probably rather have someone slap the top of my head then elbow me full force in the ear.)
Don't be obtuse. There's no way anyone could claim David West's play was a legitimate attempt to foul. That's absurd.
The bottom part of the palm can deliver a strong enough blow to the head to cause a concussion. And from behind while you are running? That's a very dangerous play with high risk of injury.

I'd take an open hand. But try having someone wind up and hit you with force on the head with the bottom part of your palm where the bone is. That can cause damage.
Absolutely, and he probably should have gotten 3 games for that.
However, there is no understating how much damage that elbow from MWP could have done.
