id take deron over westchuck anyday of the week tbh, brown ass monkey sucks @ fiba games where bigs are allowed to stick their feet in the 3pt zone all time at the defensive end, leavin him no ING room for penetration
Right now the current Men's USA roster stands at 18. That number will go down to twelve players by the time the real thing starts.
After evaluating the style with which international games are played and a certain roster defiency of big men, I picked my final version of the 12 player rotation.
C-Tyson Chandler, Anthony Davis
PF-Chris Bosh, Kevin Love
SF-Kevin Durant, Lebron James, Melow
rld compe ion
SG-Kobe Bryant, Dwayne Wade, James Harden
PG-Chris Paul, Deron Williams
Anthony Davis, Kevin Love, and Chris Bosh are interchangeable between the C/PF position so you could shuffle those players in that regard. It sucks how Dwight ed up his back. If it werent for that, this would be one of the more talented teams the USA has ever brought to international compe ion. That Kevin Durant/Lebron James/Carmelo Anthony small forward option is insane. I don't even have words to describe how talented this team is with the addition of Kevin Durant and a prime Lebron James, it's just gonna be ing insane. Kobe should start at SG with Wade coming off the bench to offer a spark. I'm not a big fan of Harden's game but I simply chose him for his style of play which suits international compe ion. It was difficult to choose between Deron Williams and Russell Westbrook but given the type of players on this team, one wouldn't want another chucker on the team. Although an argument can be made given how much Westbrook has improved since 2010. Plus, I don't think anyone on the international level can guard him on a one to one basis. It's a wash though between the two. Chris Paul will start at point guard.
My starting five would be Chandler, Bosh, Durant, Bryant, and Paul. Coming off the bench would be Davis, Love, James, Wade, and Deron Williams. I am only bringing Lebron off the bench because of the fact that he would be paired with Wade, a player he has chemistry in due part to being a teammate. This is only my opinion of a roster and rotation and I know others would have a variation of it. An argument could be made for adding another big to roster like Blake Griffin or Lamar Odom.
It doesn't really matter because at the end of the day, this Olympic roster is simply to talented to be challenged. Only way USA loses is if they beat themselves.
Idk, what do you all think?

Edit: Or a case can be made for starting Lebron at PF given that's it international compe ion... His size and skill make him very versatile in the NBA and even more so in international compe ion.
Melo could also be an odd man out if another big was added to the roster. I think Griffin would take Melo's roster spot although I would argue that Melo has the body and skill to thrive in international basketball. We still haven't yet seen how Blake "I only have one post move" Griffin would do against international bigs.
He will play. He'll fill in the 2012 TOSB Jason Kidd role that was played in the 2008 Olympic campaign.
I wish Lemarcus Aldridge was healthy.![]()
Not as good as the redeem team, but they'll get the job done
I hope Demarcus Cousins makes the team. The deficiency of legit bigs will be the only aspect other teams will try to take advantage of.
Damn that team needs some real bigs..is it really that bad that we can't suit up one single traditional power forward with a back to the basket game smh
Det team is staaaaaacked as . I don't know who can give them a challenge tbqh. It will be fun during the quarterfinals and semis with other countries but the finals will be boring as .
Entire world = fcked
Their SFs alone would be a handful.
Only way they don't get gold is if Parker somehow scores 50
Parker can score 50 but the United States will still beat the out of France.![]()
Exactly.
3 best SFs
best stretch 4
DPOY center
consensus 1 draft pick
Kobe
![]()
got Spurfan
Chandler won the DPOY, got
DPOY but is 2nd on all defensive team tough guy.
A post game isn't usually what you want from a power forward in international ball is it? Usually, it's all about the floor spacers.
Since no one is beating the United States, let's just play a game: Create a 12-man contemporary lineup that is going to beat the Dream Team, or at least has a shot.
Here's the best I can come up with. I could easily be forgetting someone.
PG: Parker, Rubio
SG: Navarro, Ginobili, Batum
SF: Deng, Fernandez
PF: Dirk, Ibaka, Nene
C: Pau Gasol, Marc Gasol
Very good team, no way they beat the US.
I was referring to a contemporary United States team that can challenge the 1992 Dream team and not an all-world ex-USA team that can challenge the United States in the 2012 Olympics.
Oh, got it.
PG: LeBron, Paul, Westbrook
SG: Kobe, Wade
SF: Durant, Carmelo, Iguodala
PF: Duncan, Bosh
C: Howard, Bynum
Magic is a matchup nightmare for any modern point guard, so have LeBron run the point to get another bigger player on the floor. LeBron would probably be the best player in the history of the NBA at defending Jordan, and Kobe could do solid work on Magic. I think 2012 Durant is better than 1992 Bird, but there would definitely be a ton of good shots from both of them. Pippen would probably get a lot of run as a defender, but there's too many guys to defend.
I'm not sure anyone on the Dream Team could stay in front of Chris Paul. I know nobody could stay in front of Westbrook -- he would absolutely lethal as offense off the bench.
Howard is a solid defensive center who could hold his own against Robinson and Ewing, but Bynum is direly unreliable. Still, he has a better shot than Hibbart, imo. Even at his current age, I think Duncan can pound the crap out of the Mailman and provide useful help defense.
I think this would be a pretty fair fight -- I might even give the edge to the 2012 team.
