Well , I just found out Sunday is Father's Day. Guess I'd better do something...

Father's day. I'm gonna roast a pound of Huehuetenango the night before, take a pot to the deck by the pool in the morning and stay there all effin' day.

This morning I took my daughter out to breakfast. There was a family of four sitting in the booth behind us. One little girl ate half a pancake, climbed up onto the back of the booth, stood up and shouted, "Hooray for me!". Dad said, "Shhhh," into his omelette and Mom did nothing at all. It really hit me then - Universe 25 does exist in the human world and it's going to claim us all eventually. It's already begun and I missed it somehow.

I'll find a link, but first long story short: Back in the '70's a scientist named Calhoun built a mouse Utopia - perfectly controlled temperature, clean food and water provided, lots of room, the works. Started out with 4 breeding pairs in a space large enough to comfortably house 1,000 mice total. Of course, they bred. Again and again and again. When the population hit 600 or so, just over half capacity, population growth began to slow. When it went over - in fact, they hit over 2,000 in number - some of the mice began to commit acts of random, senseless violence. Fighting to the death, cannibalism (even with food and water still being provided), parents turning on their young, etc. Those who didn't become violent became apathetic narcissists - doing nothing but eating, sleeping and grooming until they just laid down and died. And as I'm typing this I'm realizing that this is what happened on the Miranda colony in the movie Serenity.

Hmm. That's interesting. The world was only meant to maintain about 3 billion comfortably. We're almost at 7. Just saw a report last night that families in Greece are actually giving up on their children on account of their economy. Little kids just fending for themselves in the street. Pretty depressing. Cannibalism, check. Narcissism is pretty rampant. You could be on to something.
Found out yesterday afternoon that a very dear friend of mine has colon cancer
I was too upset to talk her yesterday (I just spoke to her daughter), but I got it together and called this morning and she sounds great, and apparently she's got a very good chance for a full recovery. She is a beautiful person
Ha, I just poured a large bag of beans into a cannister and apparently it sounds very much like catfood and dogfood being poured, causing a rush of critters to come running in from all directions, resulting in quite a pile up in my kitchen, with one loud hiss and a couple of yelps heard
so i am going home from a long day at spurs talk and i am behind this car. it appears that there is a african american child in the back sit moving around as though they are not wearing any restraint. it appears this way cause i see the silhouette of a little black girl's hair in pig tails, but the hair looks like it is froed out. then i start thinking that some people are just bad parents. well, i being to get closer to the car and then i notice that it is not an african american person but a dog in the back seat.........damn i felt bad.
I fed some possums and raccoons last night and my wife was pissed off about it this morning.
